Taco Tuesday at Cantina Locale comes with more than tacos.

The Daniel Village restaurant turns the middle of the week into a reason to get together with Taco Tuesday Jam, bringing live music into a space that already feels made for a relaxed night out. The energy moves from the dining room to the covered patio, while a fresh-mex menu keeps the table full with options like Ghost Pepper Cheese Nachos, smoked brisket, pork belly, and mahi fish tacos.

Cantina Locale puts the same attention into the bar. More than 50 tequilas, including the full Clase Azul line, sit alongside handcrafted cocktails served in custom glassware made in Mexico. The result is a neighborhood spot where food, drinks, music, and atmosphere all have a little personality of their own.

Sometimes the clearest business idea begins with one question: why can't we find this here?

That question followed the founders of Beanie Ben’s Breakfast Tacos after they moved from San Antonio to the CSRA. The handmade flour tortillas and breakfast tacos that had been part of their everyday lives were suddenly hard to find, and conversations with other families made it clear the craving was shared.

Located in Beacon Bluff in the heart of downtown North Augusta, they built a focused menu around that memory. Tortillas are made in house, barbacoa cooks low and slow, and classics like bacon, egg, and cheese stay exactly as comforting as they should be. Customers often return for the consistency—the order is right, the food is hot, and the service feels friendly. For some, it is a new breakfast. For others, it tastes like home.

❤️ PEACE POD SPOTLIGHT: MEET BRITTANY! ❤️
One of my favorite things about Peace Pod Montessori is the incredible community of people who pour so much love into this special little school, and today we’re shining the spotlight on Brittany, a Peace Pod parent and dedicated garden volunteer!

When it was time for Brittany and her husband to choose a school for their daughter, she knew she wanted something different. She wanted a place where her daughter could move, explore, be outside, learn at her own pace and, most importantly, stay excited about learning.

Then someone mentioned a little Montessori school in Augusta. Within days, they were filling out an application and taking a tour. By the end of her daughter’s first year, she was actually disappointed to find out school stopped for summer! I think that says just about everything. ❤️

Brittany also loves the little glimpses Peace Pod gives parents into their children’s days. Through photos and videos shared by the teachers, she’s watched her daughter learn to tie her own shoes, work alongside her friends and experience that amazing feeling of accomplishing something she worked hard to master. Brittany doesn’t just love the Peace Pod community, she gives right back to it. When she became concerned about the school garden over summer break, she volunteered to take care of it herself. Through the Augusta heat, she kept it alive and thriving so the children would return to something beautiful. Extra vegetables went to neighbors, flowers became bouquets, and that garden became a little spot of sunshine for both the school and the neighborhood.

Now the children get to spend time there learning about the plants, harvesting vegetables and even cooking with what they grow. How sweet is that?! A native Augustan, Brittany loves gardening, arts and crafts, hunting for artifacts, shark teeth and gemstones, and spending time with her family. Most evenings end around the table playing board games, with BINGO and UNO currently in heavy rotation!

Brittany, thank you for putting so much love into a place that means so much to your family. Peace Pod Montessori is special because of people like you. ❤️

Big Wave Pool and Patio grew from decades of experience and a family decision to build something of their own.

Abram “Abe” Roley entered the pool industry in 1998 and spent years learning the details that homeowners rarely see—from maintenance and water balance to the larger repair and renovation work that keeps a backyard investment functioning well. In 2020, he turned that experience into Big Wave Pool and Patio.

Bethany brings business perspective, their children help with daily operations, and office manager Kylee adds years of pool maintenance and water chemistry knowledge. Together, the team covers the full picture: routine care, renovations, concrete repairs, and outdoor improvements. Their approach is straightforward rather than flashy. Answer the question, solve the problem, and help customers spend less time worrying about the pool and more time enjoying it.

Before an audience ever hears the first note, the Miller Theater already tells a story.

The Broad Street landmark was brought back to life in 2018 following a $23 million campaign led by the Augusta Symphony. Restoration preserved the character of the historic interior while preparing the space for a new era as the Symphony's permanent home and a modern live entertainment venue.

Today, more than 80 events move through the theater each year. Symphony concerts share the calendar with touring artists, family programming, and film series designed to introduce children to the experience of seeing a movie on the big screen. Modern amenities support the production, but hospitality and history remain part of what audiences remember. The Miller works because it does not ask visitors to choose between past and present. Instead, it lets both exist in the same room every time the lights dim and the stage comes alive.

The importance of an everyday business often becomes clearest when the everyday routine is disrupted. After Hurricane Helene affected the area, Peanut's Laundry reopened quickly and gave residents and utility crews a dependable place to wash clothes, regroup, and keep moving through a difficult time.

That response reflected the role Peanut’s Laundry has worked to fill from the beginning. Steven “Peanut” Dawkins founded the business to provide families with clean, safe places to complete a necessary chore. As the company grew from Lincolnton into Augusta and the next generation took ownership, the mission stayed centered on service.

Modern facilities and reliable machines matter on a normal week. During a community-wide disruption, they can become essential. By opening its doors when people needed practical support, the family business showed how a familiar local service can help restore a small piece of normalcy.
