Nice little battle with covid we just had. Thankful i don't smoke anymore, probably would have ended up in the hospital. Aria ended up in the ER for a few hours because she wouldn't eat or drink. 10/10 do not recommend.

I created this short cinematic car video set to "Fade Away" by Neffex to reflect on Nissan's rich history in racing—a legacy that now feels like it's slipping away. With Nissan facing serious financial trouble and halting the production of iconic models like the GT-R and the Infiniti Q50 (known as the Skyline in Japan), it's hard not to feel like a significant chapter in automotive history is coming to an end. Here's to hoping that this isn't the last we see of Nissan's racing spirit. P.S. You might notice some judder during the pan shots, but I’ve just learned the secret to preventing it—future videos should be smoother!

First time working with 120fps, and i notice much more noise in post. I'll expose brighter next time, but for now i hope you enjoy this little before and after. More to come ;) (p.s. hopefully fb compression doesn't obliterate my video quality...)

Lets talk about TOOLS! This is called false color and is a visual tool used in film to help cinematographers assess exposure levels in a scene. It maps different brightness levels to specific colors, making it easy to spot areas that are too bright or too dark. For example, in this shot of myself in the driver’s seat, false color helps ensure the highlights on my face and street lamps aren’t blown out and the shadows in the car interior maintain detail. It’s an essential technique for achieving balanced, professional-looking footage!

Upscaled, remastered, and sequenced some clips from years ago! Also added different audio that would be copyright free.

Change the video resolution to 4k for the full experience (film grain doesn't show up in 1080 which is why it was upscaled to 4k).

Shot on the Sony A6500 in 1080p both 24 and 60 fps with a gimbal. I believe it was a 16-135 lens.

It was definitely challenging being present in the moment while being spontaneously creative and being aware of exposure, framing, framerate etc. Hopefully someday our daughter will look back and smile at these moments we were able to capture.

🌊 Friday Favorite: 2017 The James R. Barker 🚢

Today, I’m sharing one of my all-time favorite shots, taken back in 2017 with my trusty Canon T5i and a 50mm lens. This image may not have the razor-sharp quality of my newer gear, but it holds a special place in my heart. This was the first time i experienced an unplanned "right place, right time" shot. 📸❤️

I remember the day vividly. It started with a trip to Grosse Pointe to help a friend replace the brakes on his Porsche. After the job was done, he suggested we head to a nearby park so I could take some portraits for his dating profile. The light was good, sky a bit overcast, and I managed to capture some great shots of him.

After he reviewed the photos, I wandered closer to the water's edge. Suddenly, I noticed a giant cargo ship slowly making its way toward the shore. It was the James R. Barker, an imposing sight that immediately caught my attention. I felt a mix of excitement and frustration, wishing I had a different lens to capture its grandeur properly.

But as the vessel continued to approach, my frustration melted away, replaced by a growing sense of anticipation. The ship loomed larger and larger, filling my viewfinder. I thought to myself, "Wow, I might actually get this shot!"

With my Canon T5i in hand, I snapped away, capturing the James R. Barker in all its glory. Despite my initial worries about the lens, the shot turned out to be one of my favorites. This unexpected encounter turned a simple day at the park into a memorable photography adventure.

Here's to those unexpected moments that make photography so thrilling and rewarding. 🌅✨
