🎤 The Iron Throne of Leadership
📅 January 31, 2025
🗣️ Presented by Adrienne Bradley, MEd, BCBA, LBA

Event Description
Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) face unique challenges in their leadership roles, often transitioning from clinicians to leaders with minimal formal leadership training. A structured framework for leadership development is crucial as BCBAs typically manage complex clinical teams, supervise multiple staff members, and maintain responsibility for client outcomes. Without proper leadership skills, this transition can lead to decreased team performance, staff turnover, and compromised client care.

This training program integrates Reflective Practice and Acceptance and Commitment Training (ACT) principles to develop essential leadership competencies. The framework teaches BCBAs to systematically examine their leadership decisions while building psychological flexibility to navigate challenging situations. Through structured reflection techniques and ACT-based strategies, participants learn to enhance their decision-making, improve supervisory relationships, and maintain alignment with professional values.

Learning Objectives
1️⃣ Implement a structured reflective practice protocol to enhance clinical decision-making and supervision practices, demonstrating improved outcomes in team performance and client care.
2️⃣ Apply ACT principles in leadership contexts to develop psychological flexibility and maintain value-directed actions when facing leadership challenges.
3️⃣ Design leadership interventions that integrate both reflective practice and ACT strategies to foster team development and maintain high-quality ABA service delivery.

Girls’ self-esteem peaks at 9 years old; 42% of 1st-3rd grade girls want to be thinner; by age 10, 80% of girls report being afraid of becoming fat. We've all seen statistics like these and know that body image is an important issue for girls but many parents find cultivating a positive body image in their daughters challenging, especially given all of the messages in the media about girls and women’s appearances.

To make it easier for parents to help their daughters develop a positive self image, we've compiled a collection of 35 empowering books for Mighty Girls on body image in our blog post, "Celebrating Every Body." We've included titles for all ages, from very young children through teenagers, as well as several books for parents and educators.
