We're tracking a weak tropical system in the Central Atlantic that has a 20% chance of development over the next week, but it's got some Saharan dust to contend with. Next name on the list is .
Austin is once again out of a drought designation.
If you're headed to the Leagues Cup match for as they take on , you might be dodging a shower or two but besides that we should be mostly dry.
Let’s put this week into perspective:
Camp Mabry rainfall last three days: 1.94 inches
Camp Mabry rainfall for all of Summer 2023: 1.31 inches
The heavy rain we’ve seen this week has outpaced ALL of last summer! And we have a WHOLE month and change left! KVUE
A popular Reddit post claims Lake Travis is set to rise by 10 feet, but we're only expecting modest gains for the lake from the recent Hill Country rains.
Read this shirt.
Don’t get it……twisted. 😉
Twisters Movie
The flood outlook for Monday through Wednesday shows at least some portions of Central Texas if not all in a 2 out of 4 "slight" risk for flooding with the heavy rains that are likely, with many areas possibly getting four inches or more.
We're tracking a few scattered showers and storms for later on this afternoon with highs in the mid-90s. We're on and kicking on Daybreak! Join us now for the latest!
Sending my love to everyone at WSFA-TV in Montgomery and all who knew Scott Duff. 🙏🏾🙏🏾
If it wasn’t for this man, I wouldn’t have my job at WSFA-TV.
He gave me a chance 10 years ago, seeing my potential even when others didn’t… it changed my life forever.
Scott was our former News Director; he had been battling health issues and passed this morning.
RIP 💔
The preliminary temperature data is in and it looks like I might've been a "Russian Judge" with the because we were right at average at Camp Mabry with today's 96. I probably should've given today a "9" instead of an "8" but whatever.
We were unable to have a 10 pm show due to the ABC News Special Report, so here's your latest forecast for Sunday, which includes a hot and slightly drier afternoon with maybe an isolated shower possible. KVUE
We're tracking mainly dry conditions as an area of high pressure slides in for the weekend along with some Saharan dust for most of next week, but Friday could bring in a few storm chances along a weak front. More on this at 5, 6 and 10 on KVUE.
We're tracking a few scattered storms for this weekend, mainly Saturday afternoon, but in the words of the late Glenn Frey, "The Heat Is On" for the beginning of next week.
Hey Hill Country,
File this under "Things We Like To See":
We're tracking just a slight warmup over the next few days..........except that warmup is from the upper-90s to lower triple digits for the middle of next week.
Should’ve been a better guard than Derrick White by the name of Rayford Trae Young. But that’s just me. 🤷🏾♂️
Breaking: Derrick White will replace Kawhi Leonard on the USA Basketball team for the Paris Olympics, sources told Marc J. Spears of Andscape.
We're tracking maybe a few scattered showers and storms this afternoon, with southern portions of the area as well as the San Antonio area looking the most likely to see showers and storms.
We're tracking the possibility of maybe a few pop-up showers and storms later this afternoon, and this model is printing these out in the Hill Country (YASSS!). However, we're too late to have these for this week's drought monitor, which is a bummer.
Howzit!
We hope you’ve had a great start to your week! I’m here at Blue Hole Regional Park for a really cool promotional project for the KVUE Weather Impact Team! You’ll see this promo soon with myself and Meteorologist Grace Thornton, Shane Hinton and Hunter Williams!
Looking like the new Waffle House Index.
If your power is out and you're craving a big, juicy Whataburger, you can use their app to find locations that are open and closed.
With direct impacts from soon to be in the rear-view mirror for the Houston area, heat indices could get close to the triple-digits here and in the aforementioned Houston, where more than two million are without power and it could take a while for power to be restored.
1:30 pm Update: while we've been mostly dry along the I-35 corridor, we're tracking a few tornado-warned storms in the Piney Woods region, with one of those being confirmed at this time. If you have any interests south and east of Tyler, you may want to let them know.
Models now more in agreement with rainfall totals, but the dramatic shift the GRAF took from earlier though 😳😳😳
This is why we tell you to stick with KVUE
for the latest on as it churns toward Texas.
The latest advisory has it still as a strong tropical storm, but it's in quite the dogfight with wind shear and drier air to the north. Expect it to restrengthen to a category 1 hurricane before landfall though.
4 PM Outlook: The NOAA NWS National Hurricane Center still has Beryl just off to the east of the Austin metro, but it's looking more and more likely that Beryl will be giving it to the Coastal Plains come Monday. Stick with KVUE for the latest.
4 PM Update: Track has shifted more to the east, but we've made the determination that Monday will be a Weather Impact Alert Day for Central Texas. There's still the chance of heavy rain in spots that could lead to flash flooding.
BREAKING: 1 PM advisory is in, and not a lot has changed other than the fact that it's now a tropical storm. However, it's expected to re-intensify once it reaches the Gulf of Mexico. Still tracking the center anywhere within the area for next week.
The latest cone has the center of coming right over the Austin metro, but many models show the center being east of Austin for the middle of next week. This would screw much of our drought stricken areas over from the heaviest rainfall.
10 AM spaghetti plots for show most tracks landing east of Austin, which would be an absolute bummer for the Hill Country and heavy rain and flooding for the Coastal Plains. This can still fluctuate, so stick with KVUE for the latest.

Had to bring the 🔥 because Mother Nature will this week 💪🏾 Catch me at 10 tonight on KVUE where we’ll talk about said heat!
1:45 Update: We're tracking the outer banding from #Alberto crossing the I-35 corridor, with the heaviest rain crossing through the La Grange area. We will continue to monitor in case any brief spin-ups pop up.
Got to do the Pet of the Week segment for the first time! Big thanks to Lauren Adame from Paws Shelter of Central Texas in Kyle for bringing in sweet Bono (presumably named after either the U2 frontman or Lewis Hamilton’s engineer)! Let’s get this guy adopted, shall we?
5:40 update: heaviest rain now west of Giddings along US-290, with the Coastal Plains seeing the brunt of the rain so far this afternoon.
Still tracking the likelihood of not-so-great viewing conditions for Monday's eclipse, but if we get translucent high clouds, we'll have better luck on Monday. We'll have a good storm chance Monday afternoon after full totality though.
So the #GRAMMYs were tonight/last night (depending on when you see this), and Daranesha Herron and I (mostly me) had some thoughts…
Radar Update: Brief downpour north of Lake Travis about to approach the Cedar Park/Leander area as part of a complex of showers that's also falling over the @Austin_Airport and @COTA.
We're tracking our next line of showers for Friday afternoon, and it'll mainly be an afternoon event, but light and scattered in nature. Expect only a few hundredths of an inch of additional rain, and it should be out in time for the @TexasStars game.
The latest on our warm day today, our cooldown for Friday and Saturday, and the *really good* rain chances coming for next week. #ATXWx #TXWx KVUE

We're tracking a chance for some strong storms, as well as strong non-thunderstorm winds behind the "Seattle" front. #ATXWx #TXWx KVUE
Aside from the storms possible Monday, we could have non-storm related wind gusts behind the front reach up to 50 mph in spots Monday night into Tuesday. Thus, it's a good idea to bring in any loose outdoor objects Sunday and keep them inside until winds die down.
We're tracking a good shower chance for later this evening into the overnight hours, but only minuscule totals are expected with this line of showers ahead of the front.
Here’s a detailed look at your forecast for those headed down to New Orleans for the Allstate Sugar Bowl! #HookEm #ATXWx KVUE
