I FORGOT TO LEAVE LUNCH MONEY FOR MY SON, BUT HE SAID, "DON'T WORRY, MOM – I'LL LOOK IN THE CEREAL BOX WHERE DAD HIDES IT."

I was up before sunrise, already rushing to get to my second job. I've been slipping up on things lately, and it's starting to show. So, I'm halfway through my shift when my phone buzzes. It's my son. My heart drops — I totally forgot to leave him lunch money.

"Mom, there's no money for lunch," he says. He's so patient, almost like he's used to it. I start apologizing, holding back tears because it's not just lunch — I'd been missing a lot lately, barely keeping us afloat.

But then he surprises me. "It's okay, Mom. I'll check the cereal box where Dad hides it."

I freeze. Dad hides money? In the cereal box? I thank him and end the call, but my mind races.

I had just been discharged from the hospital after giving birth to my twin girls, Ella and Sophie. My husband, Derek, was supposed to pick us up, But at the last minute, he called.

I (M37) come from a large family made up of aunts, cousins, my mom, stepmom, stepsister, and grandmother. They have a tradition of testing every new woman who joins the family, shattering their confidence before eventually "welcoming" them.

When I introduced my then-girlfriend (now wife), Jen, I made it clear I didn't want them to harass her. Despite that, they went behind my back and roasted her on Facebook. I made them apologize, threatening not to invite anyone, including my mom, unless they did.

At my wedding last week, the women in my family planned to prank Jen by wearing white to see how she'd react. My brother warned me, so I told them they'd be kicked out if anyone wore white, including my mom. They denied everything, but guess what?! After my husband of 50 years passed away, I moved to California to be closer to my only son. However, my new neighbors, both adults and youngsters, wasted no time in making fun of me. After a few weeks, their coldness turned to outright hostility — a complete contrast to my old neighborhood!😕

One evening, as I sat in my home watching television and eating a slice of cake, I heard shuffling outside. I watched through my window as a few rowdy teenagers vandalized my garden — my pride and joy.
