(MY THOUGHTS) Because I fell in love with Hip Hop in 1992 and got married to Hip Hop in 2000.
For the hip hop Fan in me that loves the culture, yes it’s disappointing. We wanna see the back and forth the battle, hear the words do the oooohs and the aaahs and say you hear what he said he snapped. But the grown man that I am understands that the power in what Cole has done he made a major chess move here not for himself but for an entire culture and generation instead he went with his spirit avoiding possibly something that could have mushroomed into something even more that he couldn’t come back from and I salute that. As in any competitive arena yes everyone wants to be the best the GOAT no doubt hip hop is heavily rooted in this aka the battle the beef’s lyrical warfare who’s better who’s #1. The stage/? that cole has set here now is can you be #1 or the best without Violence or tearing someone down? We ask questions just not the right questions. Humans mostly always want blood that fuels more blood but J Cole just deflated that which makes him #1 in my eyes because THATS THEEE HARDEST THING TO DO. Being a man isn’t always about who’s big and bad and totes guns etc etc it’s mastery of oneself and mind and this action by J will be looked at two ways forever ie in the glass half full or half empty. Do you choose light or Dark. Ying or Yang in these times that we are in I will 100 percent say J Cole did a brave thing he chose light not because he’s weak or anything like that he just asked himself the question —> For what and chose to not lose himself in his ego. Now let’s see if Kendrick will let the dark still lead him right now and finish J Cole of or will he do that same and choose light and show these kids and grown adult kids lol something new.
