Join your fellow SAG-AFTRA members and other union siblings in solidarity for a rally on Monday night as we fight for a fair contract for all members.

We will be joined by SAG-AFTRA's National Executive Director and Chief Negotiator Duncan Crabtree-Ireland. You'll hear why Atlanta Local members are important to the strike and get updates on the strike and how you can continue to help.

There will be a short Q&A portion at the end.

I asked her to give an intro about her which is here:
I was born and raised in Quito, Ecuador and moved to the United States in 2003. I grew up singing and was involved in several theatre and musical productions. I decided to study Vocal Performance at FAU and slowly found myself loving the business side of the entertainment industry. I changed my major to Commercial Music Business and ultimately decided that I wanted to start my own company and be an agent one day. In late 2020 I was accepted into the Master’s of Music Business and Entertainment program at the University of Miami to further my education and knowledge of the business. I began working with Linda at the beginning of 2021 as her assistant and eventually ended up taking over the Voice Over roster. Linda has been an amazing mentor and I am excited to see where this journey takes me!

Secret Ways You Show Emotions Without Knowing it!

As actors, you have learned all that you thought you could about emotions but have you thought about where your emotions start?

Emotions start as feelings in your subconscious until they are expressed consciously as emotions.

Those emotions are like secret messages from yourself to help you take action on what you are feeling.

But how can you communicate those emotions as an actor?

As humans, we communicate in 5 ways:

1) Visually
2) Vocally
3) Toch
4) Taste
5) Smell

But did you know that what others think of us is largely based on the visual cues that we express? Some believe that as much as 85% of what we communicate is perceived in response to our visual cues.

Unfortunately, most actors are "playing the line" in an audition.

I say, "play the emotion, not the line!"

Why do I say that?

Because most of our emotions are communicated VISUALLY.

What is even more interesting is that much of our visual communication is expressed without our knowledge and is sent and received at a
SUBCONSCIOUS level.

How do we consciously express visually?

We consciously communicate visually in these ways:

1) Our appearance
2) Our movement
3) Our facial expressions
4) Our hand gestures
5) Our posture and stance

All of these are expressed in a noticeable, deliberate, and conscious way. Actors can craft these things to express what they want their character to express. No problem right?

WRONG!

I have a little-known secret for you.

This secret comes not just from my 20 years as a professional casting director for film and television but also from my former career as a communication expert who specialized in deception detection from body language.

There are 2 other ways that YOU speak volumes without even knowing it!

These 2 subconscious communication tools:

ARE PRIMAL IN NATURE!!!
ARE UNIVERSAL!!!
EFFECT EVERYONE!!!
CAN'T BE FAKED!!!
CAN'T BE COACHED BY OTHERS!!!

To fully create a believable and interesting character in your auditions, don't you need these 2 subconscious tools too?

Self Tape / In Person Audition Workshop with Cathy Reinking for Crossbeam Talent

This is a rare opportunity for talented actors to workshop with a veteran (25 year) working casting director, acting coach and content creator, who currently works in Atlanta, but has worked in the Los Angeles, New York City and New Mexico markets.

Because self-tape auditions are such an important element now for working actors all over the world, it's imperative actors know what makes a compelling self-tape from the perspective of a casting director. In this a unique experience, which is limited to 15 actors, each actor will be given material to prep ahead of time. Prior to the workshop, you will create and send in your self-tape of the audition material. During the workshop, all self-tapes will be watched by everyone as a group, with Cathy analyzing each one for the first time, from the CDs perspective. (This will be an eye-opening experience.) Once all self-tapes have been discussed, Cathy will then run a mock in person audition session with all the actors using the same scene/sides. You will each be directed to do your best work. Cathy will also discuss Charisma and How To Enhance Your Own, allowing you to implement these insights into your work in real time.

Each actor will leave the workshop with a deeper understanding of the audition process as well as individualized feedback and direction that will help you book acting jobs.
