I can be critical—I'd rather be honest than spare your feelings.
This is an actual Airbnb listing.
What are your thoughts?
I appreciate a more professional look like you'd see at a 5-star hotel. Solid white sheets, nicely tucked under the mattress, big fluffy pillows, and a simple duvet folded back!

True story...
I met a young lady who does arbitrage. She wanted to do some upgrades to her unit, so I offered her a one-room complimentary makeover in exchange for a written review and photos. Long story short, she was interested up to the point where I mentioned a budget. Needless to say, she declined my offer! She said that she had a prior bad experience.
Ma'am, I just offered you a free service.

Here are three strategies to help you stay ahead in the market, increase your profits, and out-perform your competitors:
Funding
In my opinion, quite a few hosts can not afford to properly invest in their properties because they lack funding.
Securing funding is vital to your success. While you're legitimizing your business, you should be building business credit.
All this can be done without the use of your SSN! Simple!
I view listings every week, and I see plenty of opportunities in this area, due to a lack of funding.

Hire a Professional
If you know that interior designing is not your thing, hire a professional, it's worth the investment. People pay for experiences. Have you ever paid extra for the experience?
The same goes for hiring cleaners and individual contractors to help you manage your space.

How much of an impact does decor have? A LOT!

The featured are random Airbnb properties that I came across. Which one would you most likely stay at?

I'm all for creativity and unique design expression—However, I strongly believe that creating an environment that appeals to your target audience is key.

This should be the goal, my friend.

With all the changes that Airbnb has made to their platform, a decline in travel activity, a depression, etc., hosts now, more than ever will have to step up their game.

One last time for the people in the back—those days of dropping random pieces of furniture in a unit are over if you plan to stay in the game.

Ask yourself these (3) questions:
1. How do I measure up to my competition from a design standpoint?
2. What are my struggles?
3. Why should I expect big profits if my space lacks character?

You will either win it or lose it in the design.
