Whiskey Cigar and a gun. We’re in.

At the age of 63, this gunslinging, booze-swilling, fist-fighting freed slave became the first black woman in U.S. history to deliver the mail — and she did it across the Wild West.

CONGRATULATIONS! Lauren Scruggs made Olympic history at the 2024 Paris Games by becoming the first Black American woman to earn an individual fencing medal. The 21-year-old Harvard rising senior captured silver in the individual foil event, competing alongside teammate Lee Kiefer. The moment was also historic for Team USA, as American women secured both gold and silver in the event for the first time.

Off the competition floor, Scruggs is equally impactful. She mentors young fencers through the Peter Westbrook Foundation, supporting underserved communities and inspiring the next generation to believe in their potential.
