Forecast Details:
*Thursday, January 9th: Rain and sleet likely, with temperatures hovering near freezing (high of 33°F and low of 29°F).
*Friday, January 10th: A wintry mix early, with slippery travel in the morning. Conditions may gradually improve as the day progresses (high of 37°F and low of 27°F).
*Saturday, January 11th: Mostly sunny and warmer, with a high of 53°F and low of 34°F—perfect for enjoying some outdoor time after the storm.
*Sunday, January 12th: Mainly cloudy with a chance of rain and cooler temperatures, with a high of 52°F and low of 28°F.

Start 2025 with creativity and fun! Henderson County Performing Arts Center Youth Excellence on Stage (YES) classes are back, offering young thespians (ages 7 to high school) an exciting intro to theater arts.

Led by experts Heidi Davis & Pat Jousan Williams, students will build confidence, learn performance skills, and more in a supportive environment.

ERCOT has issued a Weather Watch for January 6-10, anticipating increased electricity demand due to expected freezing temperatures across Texas.

Currently, grid conditions are stable, and no conservation measures are requested.

ERCOT has implemented improvements since the 2021 winter storm to enhance grid reliability.

Expect morning thunderstorms with highs reaching 67°F before the cold front moves through. By evening, temperatures will sharply drop to a low of 22°F, with wind chills making it feel even colder.

Monday will stay cold, with morning lows near freezing and highs only in the 40s. While daytime temperatures throughout the week will rise above freezing, nights will stay cold, dipping below freezing most evenings.

UT Health Athens is thrilled to announce the arrival of the first baby of the new year! Jiovanni Adrian Manqueros made his debut at 4:56 a.m. on January 1, 2025.

Born to proud parents Erica Guzman and Adrian Manqueros, he weighed 8 pounds, 10 ½ ounces, and measured 22 inches long.

“We are so truly blessed having a healthy baby,” Guzman said. “We thank the staff at UT Health Athens for giving an outpouring of love and support for our family.”
