Winter Weather Advisory for Athens: Prepare for Rain and Sleet This Thursday and Friday

Residents should expect very cold temperatures, rain, and sleet, which could lead to hazardous travel conditions. Start 2025 with creativity and fun! Henderson County Performing Arts Center Youth Excellence on Stage (YES) classes are back, offering young thespians (ages 7 to high school) an exciting intro to theater arts.

Led by experts Heidi Davis & Pat Jousan Williams, students will build confidence, learn performance skills, and more in a supportive environment.

Classes are $100, run for seven weeks, and begin Jan. 25 at 1 p.m.

UT Health Athens is thrilled to announce the arrival of the first baby of the new year! Jiovanni Adrian Manqueros made his debut at 4:56 a.m. on January 1, 2025.

Born to proud parents Erica Guzman and Adrian Manqueros, he weighed 8 pounds, 10 ½ ounces, and measured 22 inches long.

“We are so truly blessed having a healthy baby,” Guzman said. “We thank the staff at UT Health Athens for giving an outpouring of love and support for our family.”
