Throwback Thursday: Author Dr. Harrison Scott Key, Executive Dean of Savannah College of Art and Design, speaks in the Clarke Central High School Media Center during a moderated Q&A hosted by the iliad Literary-Art Magazine on Oct. 17. Key talked to students about how he developed his humorous writing style. “I didn’t think that I was supposed to be a funny writer. I thought I was supposed to be a serious (author),” Key said. “(If) I’m funny, then what I write has to be funny because that’s who I am.” Photos by Kye Streetman and Miriam Silk, story by Scarlett Alston

Susan Hable co-founder of the design firm Hable Construction and local artist, poses in her studio on Oct. 13. After Hable moved from New York City to Athens in 2009, she worked with various mediums such as oil painting, collage, watercolors, ceramics, and recently jewelry making while simultaneously co-running her design firm. “The (Athens) community has been everything for getting my art practice moving in a great direction,” Hable said. “Athens is probably one of the most special places. It has a huge culture of artists. It’s a great place and it’s quiet, but there’s enough uniqueness that fosters artists in Athens.” Photos and story by Scarlett Alston
