The name Red Maiden derives from the real life story of Rusla, the Red Maiden. Rusla was an amazon, a daring and formidable pirate woman and the constant companion of her sister Stikla. Together, Rusla and Stikla raided ships and cities in Iceland, Denmark and the British Isles. When their brother, the Norwegian King Thrond foolishly lost his crown to the Danish King, Rusla rained down a cruel and bloody war upon the Danes that earned her the “take no prisoners” name Red Maiden and secured her legendary status as the foremost Viking warrior princess that ever lived.
