For the ninth consecutive meeting, including now three of the last four years in the Division V Region 19 quarterfinals, Ironton defeated the visiting Portsmouth Trojans — to advance in the state playoffs, to end the Trojans' season and to continue the winning streak against their Ohio River archrivals.

Sponsored by the Institute for Cyber Security, the team’s participation in this event reflects Marshall University’s commitment to providing students with hands-on experiences that develop both technical skills and professional connections in the cybersecurity field, McFee said. Participating in Emagine The Future 2024 provided Marshall cybersecurity team with invaluable experience that bridged academic learning and real-world cybersecurity practice, he said.

With regionalism the driving force behind the rebranding of the Northeast Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, highlighting businesses and economic growth in both Greenup and Boyd Counties was the obvious focus during the chamber’s inaugural meeting and dinner on Thursday night.
This time last year, the chamber was beneath the umbrella of Ashland Alliance, but by the first quarter of 2024, a new name, purpose and director announced a pivot in the concentration of the entity formerly handling both economic development and chamber of commerce duties for local businesses.

The sometimes crowded interstate highway that has a terrible reputation for delays enhanced its reputation Thursday with massive delays due to a tractor trailer crash and fire early Thursday morning, clogging busy commuters who work and reside in our area trying to get to West Virginia’s capital city.

For decades, it has been nearly impossible to drive a vehicle from Kentucky to Charleston when no road construction was happening.

An early Sunday shooting at Tuskegee University in Alabama left one person dead and injured 16 others, 12 of them wounded by gunfire, authorities said.
The victim of the shooting, an 18-year-old man, was not a university student, but some of those who were injured were. No arrests were immediately announced.
Twelve people were wounded by gunfire, and four others sustained injuries not related to the gunshots, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said in a Sunday afternoon update.
