With regionalism the driving force behind the rebranding of the Northeast Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, highlighting businesses and economic growth in both Greenup and Boyd Counties was the obvious focus during the chamber’s inaugural meeting and dinner on Thursday night.
This time last year, the chamber was beneath the umbrella of Ashland Alliance, but by the first quarter of 2024, a new name, purpose and director announced a pivot in the concentration of the entity formerly handling both economic development and chamber of commerce duties for local businesses.

An early Sunday shooting at Tuskegee University in Alabama left one person dead and injured 16 others, 12 of them wounded by gunfire, authorities said.
The victim of the shooting, an 18-year-old man, was not a university student, but some of those who were injured were. No arrests were immediately announced.
Twelve people were wounded by gunfire, and four others sustained injuries not related to the gunshots, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said in a Sunday afternoon update.
