Complimentary food will be provided. Drinks available for purchase. Parking on Webster Street can be limited. Additional parking is available in the SOU lot off Wightman Street next to the Lithia Motors Pavilion.

The Digital Media Center is a great resource for the film community in Southern Oregon, with its 1000 square feet studio equipped with a full lighting grid available to rent for productions. They’ve made some recent upgrades to the facility and would like to show them off, including new Arri LED lighting fixtures in the grid and BlackMagic 4K digital studio cameras.

The studio is large enough to accommodate multiple sets and has double doors to accommodate small to midsize vehicles and other large items. Auxiliary workspaces include:
• A set storage room with a high bay door for large items
• A green room and catering space
• A wardrobe/make-up room
• A classroom, kitchenette, and multiple bathrooms adjacent to the space and available to support productions

Welcome to our 1st alumni spotlight!!!

Meet Caleb Hefner class of ‘22

They are now a stage manager at Sunset Studios in Hollywood which means they are the person productions contact when they need almost anything. Production power, air conditioning, rentals, parking, safety inspections, the list goes on.

Favorite memory in the DMC

- My favorite memory in the DMC was when I took the Sitcom Production class. It was the perfect collaborative experience, similar to what the Crew Experience is now, where we got to fully focus on creating a sitcom episode. We had just gotten the C200s in and I was the DP for the first shoot day so I spent a week learning everything I could about that camera and knowing so much about that camera is what got me the job at BuzzFeed.

Advice to give to DCIN students

- There are so many film and film adjacent jobs out there, there’s not a direct path to the industry (other than nepotism) so the journey is what you make it. My first job in LA was in the equipment room at BuzzFeed before I moved over to being a stagehand and DP for them. Eventually I left to work at Sunset in a job I didn’t know existed until I was applying. Nobody follows a specific path, do your own thing and you’ll get there in your own way just like everyone else.

1. Make sure you log into your school account and go to shares drives
2. Click the drive that says Digital cinema production office and look for “production resources and production book template”
3. Find the folder “casting files”
4. All the information you need to contact the actors are available in the google sheets

It was a rocky set-up and start this year but we are LIVE and on time. 🤪. Security tried to kick us out (J/K Matt), we forgot a chair, and Mike had to kick the Director of the DMC out of the tent, but it’s all smiles now. 😂. Congratulations class of 2023!
