They just released a new single "Hand Up." Hear that and a couple songs from their most recent album "Some Good Lives"

The Pacific Northwest duo and their band play alternative folk with elements of rock and disco and the creative use of loopers, electronic drums, synthesizers, and their signature "telephone mic" for a sound that is all their own.

This Friday night at 8:00 join host Dave Jackson for a musical game he's calling 6 Degrees of Open Air Amplified. Taking a cue from the game 6 Degrees of Kevin Bacon, each song will be related somehow to the next. For instance if you hear a Wham! song, the next might be a George Michael song...and it goes from there. We can't divulge too much, but, there is no Wham!, it starts with Booker T and the MGs, and ends 2 hours later with Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga.

I (Dave Jackson) was listening to Open Air when we got the news that Jerry Garcia died in 1995. Thankfully, for another almost 30 years, Phil Lesh kept the faith, along with the other surviving members of the Grateful Dead in keeping a fantastic songbook alive and continuing (especially in the case of Phil Lesh's projects) to keep the experimental nature of their performances going for all these years and inviting new players into the fold. RIP Phil Lesh..."...such a short time to be there.."

Lesh, an original member of America's preeminent jam band, died Friday morning.
