Jerman while he talked about his book, Santa Claus Worldwide: A History of St. Nicholas and Other Holiday Gift-Bringers, listening to the well-thought-out historical facts about the roots of Santa Claus and Santa's other interesting connections which include the pagan God, Thor, Oden, Burkta/Befana, etc. with Burkta/Befana having similarities to a witch. Our work took us to the Lake Lure/Chimney Rock area, so we were able to grab some aerial footage of what Lake Lure looks like 1 month since Hurricane Helene. We did notice the river itself has taken on a completely different course. Work must be done to move the river back to where it was. We are not sure what the plans will be for rebuilding along the waterline. If they do plan to rebuild, build on stilts for future floods. We hope people are beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel with us being one month out now. We, along with the rest of our community are grateful to everyone coming together and helping our state recover and rebuild. ❤️

Hurricane Helene
Helene is the deadliest hurricane to hit the mainland USA since Katrina in Asheville, NC, and the WNC area. You knew it could get bad with waters reaching nearly 27 feet in some locations. We extend our sincere prayers to all affected by Hurricane Helene. Living here for many years now, we would have never expected a storm of this nature to ever touch our beautiful Appalachian Mountains. We've been proud to serve alongside many different churches, communities, and organizations and we were able to capture some footage while we were there.
