Walking is one of our favorite ways to stay healthy. Long walks on a WNC mountain trail or along the beach, we try to walk 2 to 8 miles a day! We wanted to share this interesting article about a observational study that found that "purposeful" walking "between 3,800 and 9,800 (steps) each day to reduce your risk of mental decline..." After experiencing the effects of dementia with one of our parents, staying mentally fit has become more important than ever. The article continues to share that walking at a "very brisk pace of 112 steps per minute for 30 minutes a day" reduces dementia risk by 62%.
