Sometimes, can be as simple as reusing what you have to make what you need, like our rescued fern plant that had become a wild-haired monster for Halloween with a few markers we had on hand.
And this Asheville FM fund drive poster became an info poster for our local station! 📻
It is the little things, y’all, that help fuel us for the big things. I consider both of these a WIN.

“We’ve got a future… we can’t let these fools take it.” A wake up call from The Political Alchemist on the Sept 9 show - listening to it through the archives on the 103.3 Asheville FM] app (🍏 + 🤖).
If I sit back, if I sit at home and be quiet like “they” say I should, if I am afraid of standing out or being unliked, then “they” will keep killing people and planet in order to get more profit. (Okay not what you said but it was the problem in my mind I’m struggling with right now! So the answer showed up right on time.)

Thank you for loving yourself enough to be human and share your energy with me! My mind is shifted forever. Gonna go get right now.

Michelle Bailey cooked a multi-course collard focused dinner for The Heirloom Collard Project () last year and the participants are still talking about it today! The food was phenomenal.

Michelle Bailey is Executive Chef/Co-owner at Smoky Park Supper Club () where the menu showcases her mastery of wood-fired cooking and highlights the abundance of local/sustainable products sourced from our large community of farmers and foragers. Before joining the founding team at Smoky Park Supper Club, Bailey served as Executive Chef at The Highland Lake Inn Resort, The Marketplace Restaurant and The Venue.

This WNC raised chef has been working in restaurants since she was 14 years old. Sher earned her culinary arts degree from AB Tech Community College and was a gold medal recipient in the national ACF student competition. She also won the WNC Fire on the Rock Competition Dining Series and was a Semi-Finalist in the Final Fire Competition Dining Series. Most recently, Bailey competed in the Pig Island NYC whole hog cooking competition where she and her teammates were awarded best dish.

During off time Michelle enjoys hiking, mountain biking, camping and coming up with new ways to cook outside over live fire.

Do NOT put these plastic cups in your recycling bin…
please, put the trash in the garbage can.

We made it!! Last frost date has passed!! 🍅🌱🌶
So now that those tomato and basil and pepper seedlings can go in the ground, those cups go in the TRASH!
What?!? 😡 They’re plastic! Yeah, but not recyclable plastic 😭 so toss em in the garbage bag and send them to the landfill.
These are ❌ NOT ACCEPTED ❌ in Mecklenburg recycling - curbside or at the full service recycling centers. 🤷‍♀️ We feel your pain! These went in our garbage this week.
Please remember this👉 it is better to landfill than to contaminate the recyclables!! 👍 Or you can and plant your next seeds in the landfill destined cups.
We can all reduce waste when we recycle right! ♻️

I’m real happy to announce that a couple of badass lady friends of mine are putting their brilliant heads together to create a festival highlighting the amazing female talent in the Asheville, NC music scene! Melissa McKinney, aka Golden Pipes McKinney aka Mama Bear Necessity, and Dani Coxe, aka Judy Gnarland aka Secret Agent Flowers, are the masterminds of this event that will no doubt be a celebration of some of AVL’s dopest musicians.

Go ahead and drop your clean bags in the Street Pantries for BeLoved Asheville! (Type "BelovedAsheville Street Pantry" into Google Maps and theyll pop up.) 🤍

Got Bags? 🎒💼🧳👜
If you are like us, you have a bag of bags. Yes, some get used regularly, but most just sit there to be used like 1 time a year - if that! 🤦‍♀️
Instead of hoarding these high value goods, wash them up (either in your laundry or wipe down plastic/foil ones with an all purpose cleaner) and then share them in the community 💜💙💜💙💜
Good, sturdy bags help a lot in any situation. But they are especially helpful if you have to carry around a bunch of extra stuff.

To redistribute those clean bags:
* keep a few in your car and ask folks you see if they could use a good bag.
* put some in the BeLoved Asheville street pantries (look them up in Google maps~ there’s a bunch of pantries all over )
* drop them to us at our Feb 28th Collection Point for the Warming Supply Drive with Greater Charlotte RISE and Green Assistant Radio at Asheville FM (864 Haywood Road) from 1-3pm.
