This is not my normal DD post, but I promised to share my step-by-step pictorial instructions with everyone interested in making breakout tiles. These are very similar to the breakout canvases (one of the newest craft crazes). However, I find them easier to make and very economical. Ceramic tiles run anywhere from $0.11 and up; much cheaper than flat or stretched canvases. I’m going to try a DP card using a 6” tile. I’ll keep you posted on my success.

Happy Labor Day! I’m going to fill in at work later on today but hoping to find everyone enjoy their day.

I finished my second breakout project last night and pretty pleased with the way it turned out. I will make a few tweaks on the next one. This one was done on a 4”x4” ceramic tile.

As promised when I posted my very first broken canvas, today’s patterns are Butterflies and Flowers. A friend asked if I could do some cards that she could box up as Christmas gifts for her friends to use for various occasions throughout the year. I had recently been working with my supplier on some mini canvases and they provided my with the butterfly designs that I could share with all of you.

As an FYI, unfortunately the butterflies are too big for trading cards. (Shucks!). However, I think that they look stunning as cards. I hope you’ll enjoy them and share pics. Besides using on cards, there are lots of possibilities for them.

We ask that you don’t share these patterns. You are welcome to download from here, but please don’t share. Patterns can be found in the comments.

I jumped on the bandwagon and attempted my first breakout canvas. I used 6x6” canvases that I had on hand from another project. It was definitely a learning experience and anxious to try it again. Of course, it had to have diamonds involved.

The butterfly is a sneak peak at what you will see on Friday.

Yay! It’s Friday! The Girls and I hope you all have an enjoyable weekend planned. If you live in an area that’s been hit with a heat wave, please remember to stay cool and hydrated. Drink lots of water during the day and maybe chill with a glass of wine 🍷 while dotting in the evening.

Today’s post brings you a design that is being used to celebrate the one year anniversary of the Diva Trading Cards group. I can’t believe it’s already been a year. Avery and I each do a card (twice a month) and we have loved and cherished every card we’ve sent and received.

In recognition of their anniversary, this trade will be the same design. It’s up to you to pick the colors and make it “you-nique”. If you have thought about joining the group but don’t think you’re creative enough, here’s your chance to shine. Pick your own colors from your leftover drills and dot away. (Pattern includes a print to size and a larger version to use as a guide to color and map out your design.)

If you’d like to give it a try, please email [email protected] to get your name and address on the trade list by Monday. The next trade date is Thursday, August 14. Give it a try and be amazed by what you come up with and what you’ll get in return.

Trade dates are the first and third Thursdays of the month. Stay on the trade list as long as you like or ask to be removed from the list when you can’t. It’s a lot of fun and I hope you’ll join the group.

• Thank You for Being a Friend

July has been a busy and crazy month for me and I’m sorry for not posting as often as I would have liked. But I’m back (a few days late) with a group of cards and pics that I hope will delight many of you.

I’ve always loved the Golden Girls television show and it was hard not to fall in love with Blanche, Rose, Dorothy and Sophia. Happy Friday! Summer has officially arrived and it’s hot in Texas. But, what can I say! It’s Texas!

Today’s post was inspired by a request from a follower for Mario/Super Mario. She asked for some designs for her kids to enjoy making while they’re out of school. My granddaughter thinks they’re super cute which is five ⭐️’s in my book.

I also did a Retro Game Boy card (and forgot to take a pic) that I used as a birthday card with a gaming gift card included.

Happy Friday! Between bad weather, damage to my property, injuring my foot, and trying to work, I’ve been designing and dotting up a storm! LOL! But I’m happy to say that I finally got pictures of what I’ve been working on and the patterns to post. Woooo hoooo!

Today’s post brings you a cute Bee and Beehive Alphabet (letters A-Z). Add them to the mini 4x4” cards, make beautiful personalized magnets, or use as embellishments on various projects. These letters are quick and easy. For the cards pictured, I printed the letters and tiny gnomes on transparency film. I’ve enjoyed playing with the film and have a few projects that I want to share soon. All patterns are posted in the comments.

Happy Friday! And, unbelievably, Happy Last Day of May! Spring has flown by and Summer is right on top of us. Today’s post brings us some bright summertime treats and colors. I hope you’ll like them as much as I do.

Life is Sweet is a set of cards with a black/white background in four sizes. These cards are fun to make using the two pages of images or simply using markers/pencils to color in the design. I’ve included a pic of a card I did using a few of the dotted images and then using markers to highlight areas in the card design.

If you have the supplies, I highly recommend printing the Images (not the cards) on a plastic transparency (viewgraph). (I get mine on Amazon). The thin plastic holds up beautifully when dotted and can be stuck on a card or made into a sturdy magnet. I highly recommend using a two sided adhesive and not glue. Once you print your design on the transparency, add your adhesive and then cut it out. If you use glue, it can pop right off the plastic once it dries. With the adhesive, you can add your drills after the image is cut. Once you finish dotting, I recommend you apply a thin coat of sealer on your design. I attached several to cards using pop dots to give the card a 3-D design. (As a side note, I’ve been asked to do a review of several sealers. The sealers I’m reviewing include spray on and brush on. I’ll be posting my thoughts on all of them soon.)
