What causes my stomach to growl?
As you digest food and liquids, you are also moving gas and air through your GI tract. When pockets of gas and air get squeezed by peristalsis in your stomach and small intestine, it makes a noise, or “growl.” So, why does your stomach “growl” when it is empty? The process of digestion begins long before you eat. When your stomach is empty, the brain will tell the stomach muscles to begin peristalsis to aid in stimulating hunger. Those muscle contractions around an empty stomach vibrate and echo, causing the “growling” sound.

You are holding a cup of hot chocolate when someone comes along and bumps into you or shakes your arm, making you spill your hot chocolate everywhere.

Why did you spill the hot chocolate?

"Because someone bumped into me!!!"

Wrong answer.

You spilled the hot chocolate because there was hot chocolate in your cup.

Had there been tea in the cup, you would have spilled tea.

Whatever is inside the cup is what will spill out.

Therefore, when life comes along and shakes you (which WILL happen), whatever is inside you will come out. It's easy to fake it, until you get rattled.

So we have to ask ourselves... “what's in my cup?"

When life gets tough, what spills over?

Joy, gratitude, peace, and humility?

Anger, bitterness, victim mentality and quitting tendencies?

Life provides the cup; YOU choose how to fill it.

Today let's work towards filling our cups with gratitude, forgiveness, joy, words of affirmation, resilience, positivity, and kindness, gentleness, and love for others. Unknown

Many rich individuals put in large sums, but He did not comment on their gifts as they deposited them. But this widow’s offering called forth His praise. He states that she gave more than everyone else. How is that possible? Jesus notes that they gave out of their abundance but she out of her poverty. They had much left; she gave everything she had to live on. This fact makes her gift extravagant, even though its monetary value was tiny.

Whoever comes to Jesus and hears what He says and does what He says is like a person who builds on a rock. When the storm comes, that person stands firm because he is trusting in Jesus as the Source of his strength. Luke 6:47-49 “All have to meet the stern discipline of life. . .It is true that God loves us, that He is working for our happiness, and that if His law had always been obeyed, we would never have known suffering; and it is no less true that, in this world, as the result of sin, suffering, trouble, and burdens come to every life. . .While we should give sympathy, let it never be such as to foster self-pity. . .This world is not a parade ground, but a battlefield. All are called to endure hardness, as good soldiers. . .The true test of character is found in the willingness to bear burdens, to take the hard place, to do the work that needs to be done, though it brings no earthly recognition or reward. The true way of dealing with trial is not by seeking to escape it, but by transforming it. . .The pain may be lost sight of in a higher joy. . .Every mistake, every fault, every difficulty conquered, becomes a steppingstone to better and higher things.
