An authentic, heartfelt, and upscale take on Lewis Smith Lake, nestled in north Alabama between 3 counties: Cullman, Walker and Winston. Although it was the dream of our founder, for over 15 years prior, the actual magazine, blog, social media and e-commerce started in the fall of 2017 on the shores of our home lake—“Smith Lake”—a gorgeous man-made recreational reservoir. Smith Lake is celebrated
for its scenery, wildlife, fishing, watersports activities, general recreation, gorgeous homes, unparalleled clean deep emerald green water, and over 500 miles of incredible shorelines—some softly tapering to the water, others rise high above the water on natural dramatic rock bluffs or on beaches of tumbled rock, boulders or soft sands. A large part of its shoreline is crowned by Bankhead National Forest nestled within the Sipsey Wilderness–aka “The Land of a Thousand Waterfalls”–full of natural springs, clear creeks, and interesting terrain. The beauty in the Smith Lake area simply must be experienced to understand, it is incomparable, and words fail to do it justice. Our company goal is very simple–to showcase our unique lake community and the lifestyle of those who work, live and visit our resort area. This magazine is a labor of love for our community, a love letter to a place cherished deeply. Our founder’s mission is straight from the heart “I want to give back, from my heart, to this place, Smith Lake, that I love so much. It continues to be a place of refuge and restoration for my family–saving us through some deeply painful times, life tragedies, and difficult health issues–simply by being this very magical healing place that it is. We want the world to know how special Smith Lake is to everyone who is blessed enough to absorb its beauty, experience its carthatic power, and sense its soul. We promise you it is a place you will never forget, it will call you back again and again. Once it has a hold on you, it will never let go.” - Syndi Hanna, Founder. This magazine is for the community, and we love nothing more than when the community gets fully involved in all the content we bring forward. Feel free to offer us your stories, photographs, ideas, advice, and thoughts to share so that we can collectively paint a portrait of southern lake living at its best.
