💥The Appaloosa is a horse breed associated historically with the Nez Perce (Niimipu) Tribe. The name may originate from “a Palouse,” which referred to the region where the horses were bred. It is likely that these horses originally came from a variety of Spanish horses—so-called spotted horses—that were traded into the Northwest by the mid to late eighteenth century. The horses were then bred by the Nez Perce. The Appaloosa is also known as the Nez Perce Horse. The first documented reports of horses in Oregon are in the journals of Meriwether Lewis and William Clark, who noted spotted horses similar to the Appaloosa among the Nez Perce Tribe.
The Nez Perce valued the Appaloosa for its intelligent temperament, sure-footedness, endurance, and speed. They required their horses to negotiate the treacherous trails from their winter quarters in the Wallowa Valley of eastern Oregon through the Rocky Mountains to the summer encampments on the Plains. The horses were fast enough to catch a bison and paso fino—that is, smooth-gaited—enough to allow a hunter to fire with accuracy from a full gallop.
The original Nez Perce Appaloosa nearly died out after the Nez Perce War in 1876, when the U.S. military confiscated the Tribe’s herds. A few of the breed survived into the twentieth century, however, and in the 1930s horsemen in eastern Oregon worked to revive it. As a modern horse breed, the Appaloosa is distinctive for its mottled skin, visible sclera (the white outer layer of the eye), and vertical-striped hooves.
The Appaloosa is one of the most distinctive and valued American horse breeds in the world. The Nez Perce Tribe and other horse ranchers in the region are continuing to develop the desirable traits that were bred into the original breed in the nineteenth century.

𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐟 𝐃𝐚𝐧 𝐆𝐞𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐞 .Chief Dan George was actually a chief of the Tsleil-Waututh Nation in British Columbia, Canada from 1951 to 1963. Also an author and poet, George achieved his first acting job at the age of 60, appearing in the Canadian TV show, Caribou Country. But George’s acting career didn’t peak until 1970 when he starred in Little Big Man, a role for which he received an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor. Another great role for George was the part of Lone Watie in The Outlaw Josie Wales (1976), often considered one of the best American Westerns. And George’s performance in this American classic could be considered Oscar-worthy as well. George also appeared on TV shows such as Kung Fu. During George’s writing career, he was credited with fostering understanding between non-native and Native Americans, particularly with the release of his book, My Heart Soars

Just over 5 centuries ago, the natives in Mexico stopped feeling pride, their children and their children's children never knew that their grandparents had built an impressive civilization...Details in comment
Today, more than 500 years after the arrival of those men who possessed a strange way of seeing the world, Mexicans begin to discover things that for decades were sorely omitted in textbooks.
Today it is known that the Olmecs discovered the process of vulcanization 3500 years before Charles Goodyear, that Teotihuacan was larger than Imperial Rome, that Texcoco was a cultural capital of the Nahua world, a city similar to Athens for the Greeks, it is known that Tenochtitlan had 700 thousand inhabitants, that is, was 16 times larger than Seville at that time, it is also known that education among the nahuas began from childhood and that was obligatory, public and universal, unlike the Europeans, who only educated children of nobility, we know the today that the Mayans built observatories and that designed the only Venus calendar in antiquity and that in the city of Ek Balam founded the most important painting schools of their culture, it is known that the wixarika and the raramuri learned to connect their heart and his thinking with the earth and his essence thanks to plants and avoiding physical diseases healing the mind first.
There were so many wars to impose religion and its customs or simply conquest of our territory. Here there were already scientific advances but history imposes it and is written by the conqueror, it's time to really know who we were before we were invaded.
We know so much that today it is possible to leave behind that belief that Europeans discovered a continent and that in addition civilized it, because as you could appreciate, civilization here already existed.”— Carmelo Morales.

The concept of Mother Earth is deeply embedded in many Native American cultures and Indigenous people around the world. All life flows through her. Earth, fire, water, and wind each play a vital role. The relationship with Mother Earth emphasizes reciprocity, where humans are viewed as caretakers rather than land owners. We must respect the natural world around us. Our ancestors are in the dust, fresh air is vital for every living thing, the fire within our Mother brings about new land, and life is in her waters ❤
