CatskillsAir

CatskillsAir A community-based, grassroots television channel, serving the Greater Catskills Region.

CatskillsAir is a new, grassroots, community-based regional television channel with an initial limited broadcast schedule and scaling programming as opportunities present themselves. CatskillsAir Mission

To provide a sustainable local broadcast news and lifestyle television channel for residents and visitors in the Catskills, in a way that nurtures community engagement and builds capacity and opp

ortunities for all stakeholder, so that the Catskills can both honor traditions and promote progress, strengthening the region’s sense of place and possibility. CatskillsAir History

CatskillsAir began as a vision from Glen Faulkner, General Manager of Margaretville Telephone Company. With the feeling of a void in informational, local news content, Glen brought together a group of Catskills based talent to start discussing the creation of a local broadcast TV station. The purpose was to serve the communities in our region with clean, Catskills centric news and entertainment. The plan is to initially air programming on MTC Channel 1 with the hopes of possible expansions further down the road.

Monday 11/25/2024 - UPDATE From Snowstorm On 11/21/2024:

MTC is not experiencing any large network impacting events, however, MTC crews continue to address small pockets of lines down to individual homes throughout our footprint. The fiber-fed customers in the affected area of Hardscrabble Road in the Town of Roxbury is an impact segment we are prioritizing for restoration. While NYSEG has not completed their power line fix, MTC is investigating alternative measures to restore those customers. An ETA on restoration is yet to be determined.

We continue to encourage customers who are experiencing any service impairment to please contact our customer service team at 1-877-727-2288 to report their issue.

Thank you for your patience as our crews continue to restore services throughout the event.

Sunday 11/24/2024 - UPDATE From Snowstorm On 11/21/2024:

MTC crews continue to address a large number of lines to individual homes brought down by the heavy snow & fallen trees while widespread power outages are still impacting our area. There are select areas where power has been restored but downed commercial power lines persist.

MTC may have damaged lines in those situations causing service interruptions to customers. The power lines need to be fixed before MTC can perform restoration work to the telecommunications lines. We are aware of these pockets throughout our network and crews are on standby to deploy to those locations when the area has been deemed safe to do so.

If you are experiencing any service impairment, please contact our customer service team at 1-877-727-2288 to report the issue.

Thank you for your patience as our crews continue to restore services throughout the event.

- 80 Addresses in the Hardscrabble Road Area of Roxbury is an area we are waiting on NYSEG to fix their lines before we can deploy a restoration crew.

Urban renewal left lasting scars, but many Americans are unaware of how their city came to be pocked and fragmented by parking lots, expressways, Brutalist buildings, and crime-plagued high-rise public housing projects. Lost Rondout: A Story of Urban Removal chronicles how a federally funded 1960s urban renewal project devastated the waterfront district of Kingston, New York, a microcosm of the urban disruption that occurred all over America. Nearly 500 buildings were destroyed and thousands of people were displaced, many of them African Americans who had difficulty finding new housing. Lost Rondout airs on CatskillsAir this Sunday.
