Reminder: If you’re the type of person who has the cortisol feelers out 24/7 looking for ways to improve/prevent/handle/manage, etc., then this message is for you:

✨✨Remember to occasionally ask yourself how everything might work out perfectly.✨✨

👉Sometimes we’re so fixated on handling everything like it’s about to be a raging dumpster fire when actually we’d see things differently if we took a few deep breaths and focused on what IS going well.

The most peaceful part of my day is my 5:30AM meditation; a mental reset/reminder to appreciate and take a breath. But I’m not some Zen goddess; most of the time I’m a little panic machine, always buzzing about something...

Then I remember to take a breath in awe of how everything usually works out pretty well if I keep showing up. 😊

So keep showing up to your goals!

🧐Need content inspiration?

You’re not a bore, everyone needs inspiration and ideas!

🥰Even the greatest artists of all time were constantly learning from one another and getting ideas from each other.

I like to think of Instagram and Facebook as grand salons where creators get ideas from one another.

👉All the masters stood on each others’ shoulders.
👉All content creators can learn from each other.
👉All content creators can support each other.
👉There is plenty of new content for everyone to create.
👉There are more than enough fans and clients for everyone.

Go scrolling to find opportunities to share value because you’ll learn what people need to hear more about. With that information, you can create content that addresses that gap.

P.S. I don’t actually ever call myself a loser, and you shouldn’t either!

😡You don't want to hear it, but: nobody becomes masterful overnight. It takes years of incremental progress.

👉If you want to get good at something, good enough to be successful with it online, hear me out:

⭐️It’s how you handle the days of low engagement that builds you up to be successful when success finally comes.

👩‍🎤Do you think all of your favorite musicians started out with perfectly tuned pitches or incredible song-writing?

Nope.
- They had to go through a lot of wrong notes to get to a consistent pitch.
- They had to write a lot of duds to get to some gold.

As long as you keep learning, keep showing up, and keep trying, you WILL improve step by step.

👉Be courageous enough to keep going and give yourself the grace of learning along the way.

To your creative success!

🙌Let your freak flag fly and the right ones will want to stay.

On the other hand, the wrong ones will show themselves the door. And that’s a GOOD THING.

🤓You wouldn’t want a mismatched partner to stay either.

One of the hardest things about putting oneself “out there” in the social media world is the fear of rejection.

👉As social creatures, we all want validation and approval. It’s not vanity, it’s written into our genes because eons ago approval meant inclusion in the group, which meant safety, security, food, warmth, and access to mates.

It’s not weird that you want approval. You want to be a contributing part of your community. You want to be valued. It’s normal.

☀

In this modern world, for better or for worse, all types of people can find other people like themselves. If you want to attract people who will like you, be comfortable being yourself on social media and you’ll repel the wrong ones and attract perfect matches.

Try it out. Be brave. You can always delete something later. Even celebrities move on from awkward phases!

☀️ATTN: marketers & entrepreneurs: WELLNESS CHECK! Before you start berating yourself for a less-than-productive day, here’s a reality check on how your brain works:

👉Fluctuating productivity is normal and healthy. Don’t get mad at yourself about it. For optimum performance and learning, your mind needs periods of focused work, followed by periods of rest. The rest-states aren’t wasted time! During periods of mental rest, your brain is working behind the scenes to solve complex issues and find awesome solutions. If you skip the rest part, you’re missing out on making better work. It’s not just self-care good-vibes, it’s science.

🤓That said:

👉Did you appreciate your work today? Did you get some sunlight?
👉Did you connect with someone you care about?
👉Did you let yourself stare off into space and let your mind unfocus while you enjoyed a good lunch?

I hope so! Because that means you are developing harmonious habits that will help you keep creating incrementally better work without burning out. You deserve it. And that’s also just how your brain works best. 😃

🤓
(Want to learn more about the science of optimum brain performance and learning? Go googling down the rabbit hole by searching “focus modes and diffuse modes” and have fun).

😊So you want to have a job that lets you follow your passion AND gives you a paycheck. (Who doesn’t, amiright?)

The thing is, unless you have an inheritance or some savings to burn through, you’re going to have to do some juggling before your passion pays your bills.

😅

It might sound unglamorous but think about it like this: The people who are successful in the areas YOU want to be successful had to figure it out too. RARELY are people handed their dream life on a silver platter. You have to forge that silver platter out of ore yourself. It’s gritty, it’s sweaty, it’s hot, and it’s confusing at first. But by going through that fire, you become the person who is capable. You become the person who has figured out how to make things work.

😎That’s how you earn your place at the table, by doing the work to figure it out. Making friends along the way helps a ton. Another thing that helps is having emotional support from a coach or therapist or other entrepreneurially ambitious pals.

👉1: Use a planner. If you don’t you’ll have a pile of sticky notes and overwhelm. I avoided using an hour-by-hour planner for YEARS. But when I finally started using it, I realized that discipline equals freedom. Previously I thought unstructured days were freedom, but tons of “To-Do’s” on my shoulders without a specific time to do them doesn’t feel like freedom to me. Try plotting all of your tasks into an actual schedule for the day and see what you discover.

👉2: Learn to Love Data: Data can show you what is working and what isn’t. If you want to be successful, it’s the first thing you should decide to make peace with and learn to love. Check into it frequently.

👉3: Keep Iterating: trying something once, twice, or even five times and calling it quits isn’t the path to success. As long as you’re following a proven process, continuous attempts will get you there. It takes a lot of Reels (usually) before you strike viral gold. It’s like that with any entrepreneurial endeavor.

👉4: Set Boundaries: If you don’t give yourself a starting and ending time, what you thought would give you a life of freedom will end up taking all of your waking time. Put the phone away and turn off Slack! Spend some time with your honey or a good show or book. Enjoy life while you build your business so that you can show up as a well-rounded mind.

🧐What are some of your tips for organizing your entrepreneurial life?

🧐Still waiting to start because you think you need to learn more, or you need to create a better plan, or you need to first feel braver before you “go for it?”

👉Guess what, that time is either:

A: never going to come (because there is no such thing as perfectly ready), or…

B: going to come A LOT sooner if you just freakin start where you are.

😅

🙌The thing most of us wish we could tell our younger selves is to “just go for it.” So why not assume Future You would say that to Present You about today?

Future Me is so telling me to not put my dreams on the shelf. I include them in my every day. I am not waiting for someday or for perfection. I know those are both illusions. I know I am worthy and ready to begin today. I will learn what I need to figure out as I go.

🥰And I want that for you too!

09/27/2021

🙃What’s that? You don’t love working on anything that is confusing or tough or doesn’t come naturally to you?

Well, I’m glad that didn’t stop you from learning how to do all the stuff that took you from babyhood to adulthood!!

😅

Now give yourself a break and remember that to get good at ANYTHING, you have to start where you are and start awkwardly.

If you wait to learn more before you dip a toe in, you’ll be behind everyone else who took the plunge and faced the awkwardness head-on.

When I first walked on stage for my first show in NYC, I was nervous as heck and certainly very awkward. But I was one iota more courageous than anyone else in the room who wasn’t courageous enough to try it. And afterward, I was one step up my ladder.

👉That's why I connect with my clients to help them find what makes their work special. I challenge them to create their best work. I challenge them to keep showing up to creating. I challenge them to go deeper and learn better. I challenge them to be courageous by going forward even when they feel awkward.

🙌We’re always awkward before we’re elegant.

🙌Awkward is awesome.
🙌Awkward is courageous.

👉Tell me about something you’ve done that felt awkward at first, but that you kept working at until it became elegant (or at least pretty cool):

🤯Over the past 5 years I have been coaching clients from all over the world to show up to their creative entrepreneurial dreams over the course of 10 weeks of private coaching.

🥰I’ve helped musicians find their sexy presence on stage. I’ve helped authors find their creative voice and writing consistency. I’ve helped models transition into entrepreneurship. I’ve helped videographers develop marketing skills that replaced their salaries. I’ve helped DIY musicians get featured on late night TV!

Sometimes clients want to work on the creative goal achievement and sometimes they want support for the confident self-marketing part too.

👉If you can dream it, we can do it together.

You + Me over 10 weeks of dream-defining, and dream-achieving. Curious? Send me a DM for a sample chat to see if it’s right for you.

I don’t show up on video, in social media, and on stage because I have boundless confidence and I think everyone should bask in my visage.

👎

No way!

I keep going because it’s a part of building my goal business and online presence. It’s intentional. I treat it like work. Sure, it’s work I enjoy, but I am dutiful about it. It’s not some fun fling that I treat casually.

👉

If you’re struggling to show up online because you think you need to have more confidence before you start doing it, you need a mindset reboot.

Think about it like showing up to a job you are trying to get good at! You have to keep showing up for it to become more effortless and less uncomfortable. And it will.

✨

And if you want additional support on your journey to creating your best online presence, I do 1:1 coaching for that!🙌

I absolutely know the burning fire of jealousy. But I also know what cures it: Decide to shift from competition mode into creator mode by thinking:

👉“She deserves her success because I know she worked for it!”

👉“Wow if that can happen for her, awesome things are possible for me too!”

👉“She deserves her success, because I know she worked for it!”

👉“I’m happy she’s happy. I love seeing happy peers.”
👉“Seeing success everywhere I look is awesome because I am the average of the people I surround myself with."

👉“Being a part of the successful squad means being comfortable and excited about other people’s success!”

💥And lastly, remember that being in a competitive mode is a surefire way to block your creative muse.

Creativity has plenty for all!

I dare you to think positive thoughts about your competitors’ successes for a week and see how it shifts your entire mood.

To work the weekends or Not work the weekends? 🤨

The rule of thumb I give to my clients is this:

If you’re trying to replace your day job income, you’ll likely have to put in the same amount of day job hours to make that happen.

⚡Yes, I said it. I know lots of gurus out there say that you can make a million bucks in an hour a day, but that’s the same fallacy as “overnight success.”

Anyone who runs a super-successful business in “only an hour a day” spent a LOT of hours getting there. They set up their foundations, made failures and learned from them, readjusted constantly, put a lot of structure in place, hired support, and delegated as much as possible. When you’re first starting out you don’t have your structures in place yet. It takes time to set those up. And that’s what you’ll have to do.

💥Excellence comes from effort. 💥

👉Here’s what you need:

1. Enthusiasm and purpose to achieve your goal. Consciously connect to your purpose and refill your cup every day, so you don’t burn out.
🌿
2. A smart growth strategy and process that you stick to and measure your progress against, so you aren’t guessing about what to do every day.

09/17/2021

Tell me about the last time you got good at something within one week of dabbling in it. (I’ll wait.)

 🙃

Ok listen, I’m with you. I get it. I wish we could all have super-speed progress on all the things we want to be good at, but the fact is that anything worth getting good at takes TIME and EFFORT to achieve.

👉Easy to master = low value.

👉Harder to master = higher value.

So if you want to master something, you’ve got to make a plan ahead of time that you’re going to stick with it EVEN during the times when you feel frustrated and awkward.

⚡THOSE MOMENTS are exactly when hanging in there creates the mental strength and flexibility to allow you to become more skilled and therefore have more mastery.

Bingo Bango, now you’re getting good!

😁Here are some things you can do (that I do with my private clients) to keep you going strong on your way towards achieving your goal:

💥1: Keep Grit Lists: Lists of things you have accomplished that weren’t easy, but because you persevered, really paid off!

💥2: Remember why you want to achieve your goal: Connect to that passion and let it fire up your energy reserves to continue past the fatigue of frustration.

💥3. Consciously try to ENJOY the process of growth. If you can do that, you’ll be unstoppable.

👉Have you tried any of these? Let me know in the comments!

🥺A lot of people think you have to look like or show up like a celebrity to grow a successful social following.

The truth is you don’t have to do any of the lip-syncing, dancing, or selfie-ing at all! You don’t even have to show your face, and I'll prove it:

👉If showing up on video or in pictures makes your skin crawl and keeps you from marketing your thing on social media, I invite you to think outside the box to discover new types of content that you WILL be excited to create and share.

💪Here are three great places to start:

1. Share your world or your work! Share what you do, what you make, what you like, what you see. Try to curate a visual theme or take pictures in a certain way to give a specific vibe you want to express.

2. Share informative content! Show people how to do things like POV recipe shares, or workout routine schedules, or strategy guides for whatever you want to establish yourself as an industry resource in.

3. Share themed industry content. Become the go-to spot for industry news, updates, or insights. You can share breaking news, or share your hot takes on industry topics. Lastly, you can share UGC, aka content that is made by other people (shared with their permission, of course).

There are so many ways to create a successful social presence that you genuinely feel excited about. I can’t wait to see which one you try! And of course, if you’re stuck figuring out how YOU can stand out with your special thing, book a session with me to figure it out!

Hi,

I’m Emily! Here are some weird things about me:

⚡ My first marketing role was hosting a live-broadcast cooking show, then producing content and marketing too.
⚡Later, I got entrepreneurial and scrappy by creating paid and organic social campaigns to book my band around the country for multi-month tours.
⚡ My first crush at Catholic high school was on a boy who was going into the priesthood. I started going to church to pray that he would fall in love with me instead (of God)? OK YIKES.
⚡ I’m addicted to learning and always working on some new certification.
⚡ My leisure reading is usually nonfiction because there is just so much cool stuff to learn about in the world, but I always fancy myself as someone who is about to start reading more fiction. (send fantasy YA recs)
⚡ I love watching The British Baking Show, but I don’t bake.
✅ My goal with this page is to help mini brands create confident, magnetic content that develops a paying fanbase.
⚡ I’m a certified life coach and have been coaching clients on completing their personal creative work and then promoting that work online.

👉YOUR TURN! Tell me something random about you!

👏 Overnight success takes years. 👏

ALL OF THE STRUGGLE that you go through during the growing pains matters. Every step of your discovery, failure, frustration, etc. informs your process.

Every creative entrepreneur/maker/doer wonders whether they are cut out for it because it "doesn’t feel easy” for them.

👏👏If there is something you want to grow and share with the world, you qualify YOURSELF, you make YOUR OWN seat at the table by showing up to doing the work it takes to get good.👏👏

👏 Nobody is born knowing how to market. Whatever thing you think you are lacking in terms of inner brilliance or confidence or social ease, well, the way you figure out how to make it work for you is going to be exactly what makes your work special.

👏 Your journey is what makes your work special. It wouldn’t have your personal magical stank on it if it didn’t have your personal sweat in it.

This is what I wish I would have told myself when I was first starting my own creative entrepreneurial endeavors (music and coaching biz):

1. Keep doing the work.
2. Be okay with being a beginner. There is literally no other way.
3. When you fall off the track, get right back on and be nice to yourself about it.
4. Don’t compare yourself to others too much. Be a creator not a competitor.
5. Be grateful you were given this desire to create and share. Cherish it and don’t make it into an albatross that burns you out. Love it.

5 Actions that are Guaranteed to Grow Your Business, Your MiniBrand:

1: Always Sell: Always have something for sale that is a natural opportunity for fans of your free material to be able to go deeper, or have better access to you.

2. Know Your People: Pick a Niche. Decide who you are selling to and what problem you are solving for them. Learn more about them. Find out about their current solutions and find holes in what exists so you can create better, cooler options. Always learn more about your people; don’t assume you already know.

3. Create Great Free Content: this is how people find out about you AND how they decide whether your paid material is going to be worth it. If you only give soggy free content, why would they believe your paid stuff is amazing? THEY WOULDN’T.

4. Be Social: It doesn’t matter if you’re an introvert (I am)! You HAVE to be social if you want to grow a business with social media. Think of it as your job, create a list, and check it off. Thoughtfully comment on other people’s work. Try to have fun with it if it feels unnatural and eventually you will start to have real fun with it.

5. Dip into ads: “Boosting” an organic post that is ALREADY performing well is a great way to maximize something you know is a solid performer. It will help spread your content to more people who will like it with minimal risk if your budget is low. Plus this will get more eyes on your other content that is posted around the same time as the boosted post.
