Art Attitude tomorrow (Sunday, Jan. 12) beginning at 10 a.m. on Humboldt Hot Air (humboldthotair.org) will feature Wendy Butler's interview with accomplished violinist, co-founder of the Cypress String Quartet and Eureka Chamber Music Series Artistic Director Tom Stone. He joined us via Zoom from San Francisco. The Music Series continues its current season with the Borromeo String Quartet performing Jan. 18 and 19.

Justin Ross is featured on Art Attitude tomorrow (Sunday, Jan. 5) beginning at 10 a.m. on Humboldt Hot Air (humboldthotair.org) . He’s an accomplished pianist and also arranges and composes music. He’s worked for many years with local musical theater productions. He also is an accompanist and composer with North Coast Dance. And he serves as organist and pianist for Arcata United Methodist Church, and with him seated at the piano this is where Wendy Butler interviewed him last week.

Mitch Finn joined Wendy Butler live in the studio to talk about and read from his new play “The Starlite Inn,' which will have a free staged reading Saturday, Jan. 11 at 7 p.m. at EXIT Theatre in Arcata. Also on today's program an interview she recorded at 40° North Gallery in Eureka, with exhibit co-curator Jess Bideaux and artist Jesse Wiedel (both pictured) as well as gallery manager Bryan Schoneman. Wendy Butler visited the gallery and spoke with the artist (pictured) as well as exhibit co-curator Jess Bideaux (pictured), who also sat for a portrait. Gallery manager Bryan Schoneman joined as well. Live in the HHA studio will be Mitch Finn, whose play “The Starlite Inn” will have a free staged reading Saturday, Jan. 11 at 7 p.m. at EXIT Theatre in Arcata. We are deeply saddened today by the passing of local and global reggae icon— as well as all around incredible human— Madi Simmons ❤️‍🩹 Madi was a huge supporter of Humboldt Hot Air, and would congratulate me (Neroli) on the stations progress every time I saw him. Anyone that knows Madi knows he radiated a light to everyone that was nothing but sincere love and care. RIP Madi, our community, & the world, won’t be the same without you 💌

Playing pretend. Remember that phrase? Remember that part of your life? It’s easy to discount playing (and plays) especially given the rigors of “growing up.” There’s an art to it, you know, to trust in the creative, and as Wendy Butler's Art Attitude guests today say, the “vulnerability” of playing and trusting your play partners. In the studio are Jessie Rawson, who directs the Ferndale Repertory Theatre musical “Cinderella” (Enchanted Edition), which continues its run through Sunday, Dec. 22.
