On December 21st, 2024, City Park in Appleton, Wisconsin, was abuzz with excitement as it hosted a unique and entertaining eventโthe Willem Dafoe Lookalike Contest. Fans of the actor gathered to celebrate their hometown hero's iconic presence in film, and participants showcased their best Dafoe impressions. Even though the cold weather more than likely kept some people away, the event was a hit, bringing together movie buffs and local residents for a fun event before the holidays. Code Zero Radio was there to cover the event!
* Our reporter indicated that it was so cold that his microphone malfunctioned on multiple occasions and he couldn't feel his thumbs for the duration of the event. *

**Green Blah! The History of Green Bay Punk Rock** is a documentary-in-progress that chronicles the punk rock and independent music scene in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and its neighboring communities like Appleton, Oshkosh, Manitowoc, and Sturgeon Bay. Directed by James Baker and Chris Pretti, the film delves into the origins and evolution of the local punk scene, highlighting key venues, influential bands, and memorable events from the late 1970s through the 1990s.
The documentary features interviews with pioneering local bands, show promoters, and fans, offering a behind-the-scenes look at how a DIY punk culture took root in a small Midwestern city. It also explores the impact of major touring punk bands that visited Green Bay, such as Black Flag, the Dead Kennedys, and Social Distortion.
The film has been in the works for over a decade and has garnered significant interest, with multiple sold-out screenings at the Historic Tarlton Theater. The documentary is accompanied by punk rock reunion concerts, adding to the nostalgic and celebratory atmosphere of the events.
The directors of the documentary will be joining us for a live interview December 14th. They'll be bringing along Jim Runge who was pivotal in the Green Bay Punk scene. Jim won the Lifetime Achievement Award earlier this year at the BAMMYs. We'll talk about the areas punk history, the film, and the upcoming Green Bay Punk X-Mas Party at the Tarlton.
