Maybe you feel the same – when the world gets exhausting, when the news is too much, you just need some good news. That’s where music comes in. When we looked around, we noticed that there’s a lot of good news out there that is music related and we want to share it with you!

Soundtrack for the Season: “Winter” by Kurt Gunn. Throwback to last year, when this album was named 2024 Album of the Year by the Wisconsin Area Music Industry. It’s the perfect vibe for sitting in front of the fireplace or a great companion for a winter walk.

Into The Music on Local 5 Live: Into the Music podcast host, Rob Marnocha was a guest on Green Bay’s Local 5 Live last week. The podcast covers the NE Wisconsin music scene and is also aired on The Avenue Sunday evenings at 8pm. You can watch Rob’s appearance here:

New Music: New in the last week, new songs from a few local favorites. First up, Michael Grabner’s “Haul Me Away” (affectionately known at The Cat Song – you’ll have to listen to understand why!) Grabner continues to expand his style into new territory but his finely tuned finger-picking style remains constant. And speaking of finely tuned guitar stylings, Tom Thiel Music joins Tyler Sj. Music on his latest release “Dry January” out yesterday. Tyler SJ has been prolifically writing great new songs lately (we still have his, “Lion Cub for Christmas” stuck in our head!) We love this collaboration and think you will too. Give both songs a listen on the streaming platform of your choice. Every listen helps the artists gain traction for their new songs on the platform.

Stone Arch Brewpub 20th Anniversary: January is a month of celebration at Stone Arch Brewpub in downtown Appleton and a their Tied House location in Little Chute. They’ve been brewing beer for 20 years and have shown unmatched generosity in supporting our community, specifically our music community, in that time.
