As the current system tapers off across the state, expect additional snow accumulation and winds today.

Greatest concern will be near the Homer Spit, where large breaking waves are expected today. Accumulation will occur from Southcentral into the Interior, with rain and snow building into parts of Southeast.

Colder weather is the main focus this week, with refreezing of any standing water on roads occurring tonight into Tuesday.

Back-to-back storms are delivering high winds, heavy rain, and snow to much of Alaska tonight through Sunday. There are nearly two dozen different weather alerts in effect.

Large breaking waves of 8 to 13 feet are likely along the Homer Spit. Winds of 20 to 50 mph will impact much of the Western Kenai and into the Valley, with locally higher wind gusts near Kachemak Bay. Any snow we see across the state will lighten up into the evening hours.

Fairbanks and surrounding areas of the Interior, be prepared for deteriorating road conditions into the weekend.

Areas nestled up against the Alaska Range and through Fairbanks will see wet and slushy roads, as temperatures warm. Highs will remain well above average into the weekend, with some mixed precipitation expected.

Additionally, high winds will move in over the Alaska Range, with gusts upwards of 70 mph. Heavy snow will impact areas of the Central Interior, S. Denali Borough and through the Eastern Alaska Range.

Beyond this weekend, colder weather arrives. It's possible this could be the coldest air of the season, with overnight lows next week dropping as low as -50 in some spots.
