High winds from Southcentral through the Alaska Range will keep temperatures well above average, with temperatures in the Interior breaking freezing in some spots.

Elsewhere across the state, snow, rain and areas of freezing rain will be likely today. Heaviest snow will occur through Western Alaska, where up to a foot of accumulation is possible.

A weather whiplash will occur this week, where highs in the Interior will drop back below zero by weeks end

Our wintry mix and freezing rain threat is diminishing for most locations today, with more warm air and wintry mix into next week.

Each and everyday this week has led to warmer conditions across the state.

While wintry precipitation is coming to an end for some this week, we're watching even more warmth and areas of wintry mix/freezing rain into next week. This will impact areas as far north as the Slope.

Temperatures have warmed anywhere from 20 to 40 degrees since this weekend, with additional rounds of wintry mix and freezing rain possible across the state.

Numerous alerts across the state this morning, with the greatest impacts being seen from Southwest to Southeast Alaska.

- Significant icing of up to .25" is possible along the Haines Highway
- A glaze of ice to .10" is possible for parts of Southcentral.
- A glaze of ice, with snow and mixed precipitation to impact Southwest Alaska.
- The Interior will largely stay dry today, with a chance for some snow/mixed precipitation into Wednesday.

As we usher in December, temperatures will be on the climb. Most of the state will see a rapid climb in temperatures this week, from the 30s in Southcentral, to the 10s and 20s through the Interior.

Frigid cold remains with much of the state through the weekend, with a winter storm expected for Southeast starting late Saturday afternoon.

Into next week, a warming trend will bring highs back above zero for the Interior, while temperatures in Southcentral warm into the upper 20s.

Temperatures continue to steadily drop across much of the state, with gap winds already increasing for Seward, Whittier and Valdez.

As Thanksgiving arrives, expect additional winds to increase for the valley and western parts of the Kenai. Gusts could be in the range of 20 to 50 mph, with locally higher wind speeds near Thompson Pass. Anchorage will largely be spared from any winds.

Meanwhile through the Interior, overnight lows will easily drop to -40 degrees in some spots.

Gear up for the return to colder conditions, as the rest of this week will see highs steadily drop.

The Interior will see highs drop to around -20 for Thanksgiving, while Southcentral will spend most of the day in the single digits.

Meanwhile the Aleutians and Southeast will see "warmer" weather compared to the rest of the state for Thanksgiving, with rain and snow to continue.
