Weather update.

⚠️ Strong Winds Expected in Turnagain Arm, Anchorage Hillside, and Portage 🌬️

-Turnagain Arm & Anchorage Hillside: Southeast gusts up to 70 mph expected today and Monday, with peak winds this afternoon and again late Monday morning through evening.

-Portage: Gusts reaching 60 mph through Monday, especially along Portage Glacier Road.

-Mat Valley: Gusts up to 40 mph through Monday night.

-Anchorage Bowl: Winds will be light but could become gusty Monday afternoon and evening.

-Temperatures will rise to near or above 40°F in portions of Anchorage and the Mat Valley as southeast winds bring in warmer air.

Update: Remote Learning Day today, 12/5/24;

Due to deteriorating road conditions, we are shifting from 2-hour delay start to a remote learning day.

Also, all after school activities and community rentals are cancelled for today.

Girdwood K-8 will have in-person learning and no bus transportation.

Apologies for the previous update on email. There was a technical glitch. Again apologies for the confusion.

Weather update:

A few **updates** have been made to the Winter Weather Advisories across Southcentral Alaska this morning. For the Mat-Su Valleys, the advisory has been expanded to include the Matanuska Valley west of Wasilla, including Houston and Big Lake. Both advisories are now in effect and will continue through 3am Wednesday. For all of the freezing rain advisories, precipitation is expected to be intermittent and very light. For the Northeastern Prince William Sound, the blowing snow advisory now includes Keystone Canyon, where strong northeast winds have been able to persist. Exercise caution traveling.
