Update:
Aurora Elementary will be closed today, Monday, December 15th, due to a power outage.

Update—12/14/25—9:30pm
All schools will be open tomorrow, Monday December 15th.

Our operations team will be monitoring the situation overnight. If anything changes, we will notify you.

Good evening ASD Community,

Due to extreme wind conditions, we have multiple schools without power across town.

We are actively in contact with utility providers and monitoring outages in Anchorage and surrounding areas.

The district will make a decision later tonight if any schools will be closed tomorrow due to known power outages.

Any additional closures due to loss of power will be updated and messaged out.

If you did adopt a kid, THANK YOU! Please do not forget that the drop off deadline for the gifts is MONDAY DECEMBER 15th.

If you have NOT adopted a kid from our program, time is running out and we still have several teens that are missing major pieces of their Christmas. 🎁 THE FASTEST WAY TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE RIGHT NOW: Drop off GIFT CARDS at our office by Monday, December 15th at 6 PM. Gift cards allow us to immediately cover the biggest gaps and last-minute needs.

Update:

MSBSD Regions 1–5 and Region 7 will be closed on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 due to ongoing high wind, electrical outages, and the time needed to make sure all facilities and buses are ready for normal operations.

Elementary and middle school activities in these regions are canceled. High school activities will be communicated by noon.

Region 6 — Su-Valley, Talkeetna, Trapper Creek, and Willow — will operate on a normal schedule with transportation. Any changes for Region 6 will be communicated in the morning.

MSBSD School Closure Update for Monday, December 8

MSBSD Regions 1–5 and Region 7 will be closed on Monday, December 8, 2025 due to high wind, the forecast, and electrical outages. All activities in these regions are canceled.

Region 6 — Su-Valley, Talkeetna, Trapper Creek, and Willow — will operate on a normal schedule with transportation. Any changes to Region 6 transportation or school operations will be communicated in the morning.

Good morning ASD Community,

The weather changed pretty quickly overnight and road conditions are not safe in most areas for the morning commute. As a result, all ASD schools and support facilities are closed today due to hazardous weather and icy road conditions. Side streets and upper elevations areas are not safe. Only emergency staff should report for duty, including all facilities and maintenance staff. Unless otherwise announced, schools will reopen tomorrow.

A decision about after school activities and Community Rental facilities will be made by noon.
