Nearly 900 students from the Mat-Su and Anchorage areas attended the Alaska Construction Career Day in Palmer, gaining hands-on experience in construction. From welding to electrical wiring, students explored future career paths in the industry.

A cleanup is set to begin soon at the homeless camp in Davis Park in Anchorage.

A federal case connecting Alaska to California gang violence has resulted in prison time for an Eagle River man convicted of fi****ms trafficking.

Cornelius Smith of Eagle River was sentenced to 2.5 years in prison for trafficking 28 fi****ms from Alaska to California, where many were linked to gang violence and serious crimes.

Fire managers in the Mat-Su Valley are taking proactive steps to reduce wildfire risk as spring conditions dry out local vegetation.
