BLACK FRIDAY THOUGHTS (NO SPOILERS)
I truly believe we are in a new era for Team Starkid. I am so excited for everything they are bringing to the table. The editing, the writing, the intensity, the darkness, this is a long way from Hogwarts.
I might be jumping the gun here, but this *might be my new favorite Starkid show*. HOWEVER, I'm going to separate Starkid shows into two distinct eras - Parodies and Originals. Black Friday is, for now, my favorite Original. Twisted is going to remain my favorite Parody (as it most likely will remain). Argue with me in the comments, but in terms of writing... Black Friday is a masterpiece.

I've plugged this show before, but the album for Jagged Little Pill just dropped, and folks you are doing yourself a DISSERVICE if you don't take an hour and thirteen minutes out of your holiday weekend to listen to this golden mark of modern theater. I saw this show closing day at the ART, and I swear I can see the stage shot for shot to this. It is so rare for an album to move you like this one does. The work they did to heighten Alanis Morisette's original work is magnificent.

I'm gonna tell y'all what the defining moment for me with this show was. The moment I knew I would love it. It was during 'All I Really Want', the moment of silence, the die in. My generation is raised on normalizing trauma, and the presence of that poster, the subplot of a rebellious teen (PLAYED BY SOMEONE MY OWN AGE, TOO!) making waves in her community and actually making some sort of impact is just...... I can't thank JLP enough. The ability to return back to this album is kismet. I really needed this, and I know a lot of other people did too. I'm gonna listen to this on loop through finals, and I hope you guys enjoy the tracks I'll pull from it for my block. These next few playlists WILL HAVE JAGGED LITTLE PILL, this is a GUARANTEE, I PROMISE YOU!

So, yeah. Thanks, Jagged Little Pill. Folks, listen to this album wherever you can. You need this, I promise.
