This week’s Advent style: 8-bit 🎮

Storytelling doesn’t always need realism—sometimes it needs play.

Sometimes joy, nostalgia, and pixel-level simplicity are exactly what you need to open a door to wonder.

And hey, even pixel-sized saints can point us toward heaven!

Before we ever hit record, we had one goal: make the story feel real.

We tested everything—Canon, Zeiss, Ultra Primes—until we found the combination that grounded the film.
ARRI cameras with Ultra Primes became our base: clean, consistent, able to handle natural light anywhere in the world.

But the challenge wasn't just matching interviews across five countries.
It was making modern footage blend seamlessly alongside decades of archival photos and Super 8 reels.

So we went old-school.
Filming real photographs on light tables.
Adding authentic film flicker.
Using vintage techniques so history didn’t just appear, it breathed.

Capturing the story was one thing.
Shaping it into a single cohesive film… that part was waiting for us in post.
