Public Announcement

The Sheriff’s Office has received calls that some of our elderly residents may need food supplies.

We want to confirm that everyone is OK, however, we cannot cover the entire county going door to door quickly and not everyone has access to social media. So, we need your help, if you could please check on your neighbors and verify that they are OK. The Sheriff’s Office does not have the supplies to distribute, but we can coordinate with someone to get supplies to them.

If you have a neighbor who needs food supplies, please let us know, so we can try to get them some assistance.

Also, if you have a neighbor, you have not heard from or cannot contact, please let us know.

FEMA Specialists in Georgia Communities After Hurricane Helene

FEMA Disaster Survivor Assistance crews are in Georgia neighborhoods helping people apply for FEMA assistance after Hurricane Helene.

DSA teams wear FEMA attire and have federal photo identification badges. The teams go door to door in impacted neighborhoods to help people apply for federal assistance, check the status of an application, identify potential needs and make connections with organizations that can provide resources. DSA crews never ask for, or accept, money.

How to Apply

Homeowners and renters in Appling, Atkinson, Bacon, Ben Hill, Berrien, Brooks, Bulloch, Burke, Candler, Chatham, Clinch, Coffee, Colquitt, Columbia, Cook, Echols, Emanuel, Evans, Glascock, Irwin, Jeff Davis, Jefferson, Jenkins, Johnson, Lanier, Laurens, Liberty, Lincoln, Lowndes, McDuffie, Montgomery, Pierce, Richmond, Screven, Tattnall, Telfair, Toombs, Treutlen, Ware, Washington and Wheeler counties can apply in several ways: Go online to DisasterAssistance.gov, use the FEMA App, or call 800-621-3362 any day of the week. If you use a relay service, such as Video Relay Service (VRS), captioned telephone or other service, give FEMA your number for that service.
