At the last meeting, we had a discussion about house concerts being the new listening rooms. Does anyone have contacts who host house concerts? I'd like to put together a list of listening-friendly promoters and venues, to be shared with group members and friends of the NSAI. Add a comment below, or send me an email at [email protected] -KM

Well, I have officially resigned my position as Regional Coordinator for the Pittsburgh Chapter of the Nashville Songwriters Association International.
It's been a great seven years, and I will surely miss the friendships and cammeraderie.
I will miss teaching the craft to the newer songwriters and the general sharing of knowledge among all of our songwriters.
I hope you all keep writing!
Remember: Nobody ever failed, they just gave up too soon!
Best wishes to all of you, and thank you for letting me run the show for you!

Jason Blume article on song structure. Good stuff.

When I took my first songwriting workshop I had no idea that verses, choruses, and bridges were the primary building blocks used in popular songs. Nor did I know that the vast majority of the songs I listened to on the radio combined these components into one of four song…

We would sincerely like to thank Chuck and Joanne Sperry for hosting a great Songwriter's Holiday party. It was a thoroughly enjoyable evening! Very enjoyable!

11/16/2015

We are pleased to announce:

The Songwriters' Christmas Holidays Party is back this year!
Chuck and Joanne Sperry have graciously invited us -- all of you -- to their home for a celebration of the holidays and songs and songwriters!

When?

The party will be held on Sunday, December 13th -- 12/13/2015
From 6:30pm to 9:30pm

What's cool?

Recent research indicates that ALL songwriters have more than just one thing in common. They also love good eats!
So... This party is "bring-a-dish" -- bring your favorite -- anything you'd like to share with others. And byob -- your favorite brew, wine, eggnog -- whatever floats your holiday boat!

Where?

As I mentioned, the party will be held at the home of Chuck and Joanne Sperry. They are located approximately five minutes from the Camp Horn Rd. exit on I-279 in Pittsburgh's North Hills.

The address is:
8591 Harvest Manor Drive
Pittsburgh PA 15237

Please RSVP by contacting a Group Coordinator listed below.

And most importantly!
This is not just a party for those of you who regularly attend our meetings. This is a holiday celebration for songwriters. For you, who find that you cannot-not write; for you who are compelled; for you who have the bug; for you who love the creative process.
Surround yourself with other like-minded individuals!
Yes, we've all had our first songwriter's meeting. Why not make your first meeting a holiday party!

You are most welcome to drop in and say hello!

For those of you who would like to play one or two of your holiday-themed original songs, we will be doing song rounds!
So...
Bring your guitar.
Bring yourself.
Bring a friend and/or family member.

We sincerely hope to see you there!

If you are serious about upping your game as a songwriter, Debi is the one to talk to. You can bet your verse, chorus and bridge on it, nobody is more qualified. ;-)

And so goes the business side of music. ;-)

The Star Trek theme song is familiar to pretty much anyone who lived in the free world (and probably elsewhere, too) in the late 20th century. Do you know the words?
