Did our first IVF injection go smoothly?
…Not exactly.
It took me 45 minutes, a few tears, and a lot of encouragement from my (extremely patient) husband to finally give myself the shot. But we did it! 🎉
As if the IVF process wasn’t stressful enough, we got some bad news this week. We have a few days until our egg retrieval and are trying to remain hopeful that things will change, but right now we’re pretty disappointed.
I’m at the part of the IVF cycle where I apparently don’t feel the need to brush my hair before recording an Instagram reel 😅
We’re down to our last few days of injections now, getting super close to our egg retrieval! 🤗 I have around 40 follicles growing, so we’re hopeful for a good number of mature eggs. The injections are MUCH easier now that I’m used to them. It only takes a minute or two, which is a vast improvement from my 45 minute first injection experience 😆
Shane had his annual check-up with all of his specialists last week, and we found out that his lung function and general strength has actually increased over the past two years! 🥳
The natural progression of SMA without treatment is a downward decline in strength. Shane has been on treatment for about six years, and his strength hasn’t just been stable, it’s actually improved. We weren’t expecting this news, but it was an amazing surprise!
He bought them for $7 in 2008.

Shane recently got a camera he can use independently for the first time in his life! He’s been using the Meta Smart Glasses for the past few weeks, and has been having a bit *too much* fun. But don’t worry, not a single motorized vehicle or wild animal has passed by without being filmed.
