We really enjoyed this film Something the Lord Made, a 2004 American made-for-television biographical drama film about the black cardiac pioneer Vivien Thomas (1910–1985) and his complex and volatile partnership with white surgeon Alfred Blalock (1899–1964), the "Blue Baby doctor" who pioneered modern heart surgery.

It was a very good film that portrayed the amazing talent of Mr. Vivian Thomas and his struggle against racism in the Jim Crow era. Johns Hopkins eventually awarded Vivian Thomas an honorary doctorate.

While watching this film I couldn't help but think about Johns Hopkins grievous crime against coal miners who suffered from black lung disease. In 2015 Johns Hopkins' crime was exposed by ABC News and the Center for Public Integrity. Doctors at Johns Hopkins had denied black lung benefits to over 1,500 miners by falsifying x-ray readings.
