Jingle bells
Just want to let folks know if you are trying to watch jingle bells telethon on 20.5 the audio and video are way out of sinc. This is not a selective tv issue. There is a technical glitch somewhere, either the equipment that is sending out the signal or the equipment that is recieving the signal. I have tried to notify the crew at the performing arts center.

KEEP YOUR FINGERS CROSSED
Looks like everything is back up and stable. If you rescanned during the outage or you are missing channels you will have to rescan again. Remember, when an event like this happens do not rescan, in effect you end up locking channels out because they are not there when you rescan and then you have to rescan again once the channels are back. It was a very unusual and unlikely series of events that created this problem initially proving that even though you try and anticipate every scenario and take every precaution you can sometimes the bear gets you anyway.

UPDATE 11/3/2/4 7:18AM
I know everyone is wondering what is going on and will we be able to watch the Vikings tonight. I am communicating with our engineer this morning and don't have anything definitive yet. One possibility is that the component sent to us is defective. That component is a loner which was sent to us to use while we wait for the brand new component to arrive. Will keep you posted.

UPDATE 9:40AM 10/30/24
We have made arrangements with the company that provides this piece of equipment called a DMG (digital management gateway)
to over night a loner DMG which will arrive and be installed tomorrow.
We will purchase a new DMG from them and send in the old one to be repaired. So the good news is that we will end up with a new DMG and a backup DMG, the bad news is that all the channels will not be restored until sometime tomorrow. I suppose it could be worse, this is bad enough, but in a way perhaps it will remind folks just how much they depend on Selective TV, and encourage those folks who are not contributing members to finally do the right thing. With the huge expense of this repair now would be a great time to do that. Annual membership is $150.00 a year and checks can be sent to Selective TV, 2308 South Broadway, Suite 2, Alexandria, MN 56308

UPDATE ON CHANNELS
10/30/2024
We don't have all the answers yet and I will update again later in the day but here is what we do know as of 8:00am. There was a power outage in the Twin Cities yesterday morning that affected a vital piece of equipment Selective TV depends on to get the network signals up to us. Often times when the power comes back on there is a surge of power that can damage or destroy sensitive broadcast equipment apparently that is what has happened. The next question is can that piece of equipment be repaired or does it have to be replaced. At this time it appears it will have to be replaced. Next question, how long will it take to receive and install the new piece of equipment. As I write this morning I do not have the answer to that question but hope to have the answer later this morning. As soon as I do I will update again. This is a 30 thousand dollar piece of equipment and that is why we don't have a spare one just sitting around that we can just plug in. These power surges have become more of a problem for a variety of reasons I won't go into now. We are working to do what we can to protect our equipment from this type of damage and we are working to get the current issue fixed as soon as is humanly possible. In the meantime we appreciate your patience and understanding. I will update again as soon as I have more information.

REELZ HAS NEW CHANNEL
Reelz TV has moved from channel 21.2 to channel 1.3 replacing the NASA channel. We can no longer receive NASA via satellite so the decision was made to drop it from the lineup. We moved Reelz TV to the old NASA spot to free up channel 21 for some new channels we are working to acquire and add to the Selective TV line up. There will more on that later

RECEPTION ISSUES
I have received a couple of calls on channel 15. Two things to know. One, Selective TV does not transmit channel 15. It comes directly from the broadcaster. Two, we have some pretty strong "skip" going on right now that may effect your reception of 15 and other channels. Looks like the skip should begin to clear out toward the end of the week when the atmosphere stabilizes. Do Not Rescan.

CHANNEL 7
Some of you may have found channel 7 popping up on your tv. This channel is not part of Selective TV. This is the VHF signal that used to belong to WCCO which now belongs to a religious broadcasting company. The signal is actually directed towards the twin cities so you may pick it up but it may not be reliable. But again this channel is not part of the Selective TV system.
