After I had pitched my tent and was contentedly listening to the sounds of the night, the rustling of little creatures in the leaves, the happy sound that ponderosa pines make when they are talking to the wind, I felt the familiar sensation that I had not felt for a while: That of somebody truly WILD being around me. A few seconds later they were starting their unique, yours truly howl that I have come to love so much: The resident Mexican Gray Wolf family was greeting me and singing me to sleep. What a great lullaby! I had not heard one like that since my grandma used to sing to me ... go wolves!
