I’ll tell you what… 30 plus years. Thanks to my wife who was crazy enough to go along with this, we’ve had the opportunity to do incredible things in music and sound that have impacted radio charts, video games, tv, film, and more. I look forward to going to “work,” which in itself is a weird concept! The people I’m surrounded by impress and inspire me. Bad days are seldom, but they do happen. I support music, art, and above all, people. I recognize that not everyone’s path is without flaws. However I’ve learned to focus on the now. Music is a lot of fun. The business of music however is maddening at best. Always remember the fun. And when you’re making music, focus on the now.

Some Happy New Year thoughts about support. As an artist manager today it'd be easy to overlook radio promotion altogether when strategizing a release. I mean we've got to run pricey contests on TikTok, engage in expensive pre-saves, analyze and tune SEO and SEM and so on. On the other hand... and it's a big other hand... radio connects music artists to a community. Selling hard tickets via Spotify metrics is very challenging unless those metrics are exceedingly significant. If on the other hand you're an artist in the "couple of million streams" range, radio relationships will sell tickets that Spotify will not. Depending on the format, radio can be an exceptional partner in taking your touring upright and expanding your listener base with people who will buy tickets. And... more and more buyers are becoming wise to the risks of buying talent based solely on digital metrics. Play smart friends! DB
