Savannah State University (SSU) received $10,000 from the NAACP.

“We understand and appreciate [our history and connection with SSU]. We know that if this institution is going to stay, it is going to depend on student recruitment and student retention,” said Al Scott, NAACP first vice president.

The endowment is the first payment toward a $100,000 commitment to fund the NAACP Student Retention Fund.
