Here's a glimpse into my second book. Please comment and share if you like. I present to you, into Lunar's world....
“Lunar is now the leading council member. I will be stepping down after this war is over, officially. Whatever demands or changes she asks for are to be fulfilled with no questions or hesitation.” Perseus grabs Syuri’s hand and takes a long look into her eyes seeing David’s approving smile. “David, requirement is optional for you, Allura, Jinto, and Arlo as well. Anyone else may speak with Lunar about retirement if they – “
“That won’t be necessary Uncle Percy.” Lunar enters the room shifting the attention onto her. Her aura was peaceful and yet different. “Uncle Percy, there will be a few changes, but nothing as drastic as that.” Lunar walks gracefully towards the center of the room towards the table where everyone is seated. She took a full survey of everyone’s faces before she continues speaking. “Has everyone had a chance to read the pamphlet? Are there any questions before we begin?” The room fell silent as everyone began reviewing over the magical pamphlets placed before them.
“May I ask how you became such an easy target for the rogues and mortal?” Zora was the first to speak as everyone else were jotting down their own questionings.
“Zora! How dare you!” Perseus rose slightly from his seat, but Galen’s shaking head prevented his reaction. She just looked on at the commotion.
“Is it not a fair question to ask? I meant no disrespect. If she was supposed to be protected and hidden in another realm far from our enemies, how were they able to acquire so much information on her?” Zora smirked at how she was able to get under Perseus’ skin so easily.
“Uncle Percy, it’s fine. All questions are welcomed.” Lunar winks and smirks at her uncle. She turns her attention back to Zora who was eagerly waiting for Lunar’s response. “I became a target when someone told the rogues my mother was pregnant by my father. They used that information alone to warn the mortals and that’s how my parents died.”
“Wait, who was the someone? Do you know who alerted the rogues?” Khron sat up abruptly as he asked his question.
“That information is still unknown to me at the moment, but the rogues we’ve caught are going to be questioned by me when this meeting is over to find out exactly who and why.” Lunar watches as Khron and Zora gave each other a quick glance. No other being caught their exchange but Lunar. “Any other questions?”
“Yes, I have one.” Nerine raises her hand as she stands to show her respect.
“Yes Nerine? Oh, please do not stand. I was once a young mermaid in my past life, I need no gesture of this magnitude. Please sit and speak freely. This goes for everyone.” Lunar spoke sweetly towards Nerine alluding to how gentle of a creature she really was.
“How are we going to win a war with a non-combative leader? I’m not trying to seem as if I don’t have faith in your leadership skills, but from history, most if not all, cosmic type dragons were unable to produce any combative skills besides basic fire breathing to defend themselves and others.” Nerine pauses as she saw the look on Perseus’ face. She bows her head and mumbling, “Never mind. I’m sorry I asked.”
“Uncle Percy. If you are not going to be a productive part of this meeting please take your leave. Every person in this room has the right to speak freely to me. Stop leading my meeting. Please. I don’t want to command you to do so either.” Lunar was getting more irritated at Perseus lack of self-control. He was allowing his emotions to make decisions for him she would have to correct. She didn’t have time for that if she wanted to get everything out in the open.
“My apologies. These questions seem – “
“Perseus please allow her to lead. They seem off to you, yes, but the council needs to be able to trust her.” Kessa interrupted as well trying to help calm Perseus so she can get some answers to her questions as well.
“Yes, you are both right. Please Lulu, continue. I will not interrupt anymore.” Defeated in his attempts to help Lunar be given the respect she deserves. Perseus sat back and held Syuri’s hand. He began to finally see his niece as the Queen she really was.
“Nerine, yes, in my past lives I choose not to accept the powers that belong to me granted by our ancestors. I choose knowledge to help others evade war, violence, and chaos rather than contribute to it.” Lunar slowly glanced over to where Galen sat. She slowly stood to walk towards him when she saw Captain Easton, Agent Smith, and Harper enter the room.
“Why are there mortals here?” Selena roared from her seat. She was slowly shifting as she stood to a defensive stance. Preparing for a battle.
“Selena calm yourself. Captain Easton is the father of the late great Azrael, the Golden Hellhound. He’s accompanied by his assistant Harper and Agent Smith because they have some valuable information, I felt we need to hear.” Lunar scanned the room and saw a small space for them to stand. “Please enter.” She pointed to the space and escorted the mortals to their seating giving each of them a pamphlet unlike the ones everyone else had. “Our secrets are in these pamphlets. Now before reading them please tell the room what you have discovered by working with the rogues.”
“This doesn’t feel right!” Allura jumped from her seat to stand by Arlo who was rising to embrace her. “These are the mortals that killed Queen Celeste.”
“Control your woman Arlo, she speaks out of emotions.” Khron spoke without looking at either of them.
“Khron if you say another word – “ Arlo was now enraged.
“What you little half and half? You going to cast a spell on me?” Khron was laughing at Arlo’s reaction.
“Everyone please calm down. Let’s try to be understanding – “ Yuni was trying to keep the peace but no one was ready to be peaceful with mortals in the room.
“Shut up Yuni.” Khron said. “No one is afraid of you or anyone else for that matter.”
“Maybe you should be.” Galen finally spoke. He was getting restless and tired of the immaturity some were showing.
“Excuse me?” Khron turned to face Galen who was sitting next to Yuni.
“I didn’t stutter. This is becoming a circus show because you and other aren’t ready to – “
“Listen dragon. I don’t know where you’re getting the courage – “
“Khron, we will not continue this display of foolery. What will happen is Lulu will continue to answer questions and the mortals will inform us of what they know whether you’re here or not. Like it or not, you are not the lead of this meeting nor will anyone else continue to act like children. Our worlds are in danger. Now unless you are against your own please sit down and nurse your bruised ego in silent until you have something helpful to say.” Galen never spoke above a calm whisper. He didn’t need to raise his voice to command a room or respect.
“Fine. Let’s continue this circus act then.” Khron sat down defeated in his attempts.
“I guess Lunar’s man can defend her but not you huh Perseus?” Zora continued to push the limits unaware of the situation she was creating for herself.
“Zora, I’m beginning to lose my patience with you.” Lunar began quickly approaching Zora, who in return rose from her seat.
“Really? Well Lulu what – “ before Zora could finish her sentence Captain Easton spoke.
“Zora of the Sirens?” Captain Easton was looking in a file reading off a sentence highlighted. “Aren’t you the very creature that informed my superiors of Azrael and Celeste’s relationship?” The room fell silent. Everyone looked at Zora. “We have a recording of that conversation. Harper will you play it for them?”
“Yes Captain.” Harper quickly pulled out her tablet. “Playback in three, two, one.”
“Agent Smith speaking.”
“My name is Zora of the Sirens. There is a dragon and a werewolf among you’re – “
“Enough!” Perseus had heard enough. Betrayal was not to be taken lightly and he had witness all he needed. “Captain Easton, for the safety of you and your guests, please follow my wife Syuri to the East Wing where we will continue this shortly. NO ONE ELSE LEAVES THIS ROOM!” Perseus’ dragon spoke boldly with authority to command every creature in the room. He stared violently at Zora.
“Sister, is this true?” Nerine turns to Zora to view her face. Zora facial expression had not changed.
“Nerine, you don’t understand. I did that – “
“Zora, you admit to betraying your own kind?” Nerine was now in tears. Hurt by her sister’s choices in life.
“Nerine, I did it for us, for you!”
“No, you did it for power. You did this for yourself. How could you? Our very lives are endangered, our kingdoms, our people, and FOR WHAT?” Nerine was screaming at this point unaware of her own actions. She reaches for Zora’s neck as she continued to ask “for what” at the top of her lungs.
“Stop her! Someone stop her! Allura yells as Arlo holds her back from interfering between the sisters. Everyone looks on as Nerine attempts to kill her sister.
“Nerine, please release her.” Lunar spoke as she begins to engulf her body in flames of bright blue and orange colors. Snapping Nerine to her senses as she slowly begins to release Zora’s neck. “Nerine – “
“No, Lunar. I wish not join the council in stopping the destruction my sister has caused. However, I am taking over the Siren Kingdom and her army will fight for you and your cause.”
“My army will do no such thing!” Zora was frozen in ice before she could finish rejecting. Nerine was lightly and discreetly covering her sister in a frozen prison.
“Lunar, please excuse us from this meeting.” Nerine pleaded with Lunar. She wasn’t combative in nature or by force.
“Sure Nerine. Just go easy on Zora. She had her reasons. Talk with her before making any drastic decisions.” Lunar turns to Jinto. “Jinto if you will portal them both to their destinations.” Jinto nodded and began to open a portal while helping Nerine take Zora into the Siren Kingdom.
“Lulu did you know Zora was behind this betrayal?” David asks as he and Perseus exchanges looks. David reentered the room right as Nerine froze Zora.
“I wasn’t sure of her intentions, but I knew something to that effect. Something was off about her; something had changed since she last sat with the council. She didn’t seem as open with the council as she was before.” Lunar then looks at Khron. He was sitting remarkably close to the entrance as everyone moves closer into the room.
“Why would she tell the mortals about Queen Celeste?” Arlo begins questioning the motives of Zora. Galen notices Lunar’s energy shifts slightly. He turns in the same direction as Lunar’s stare. Her flames intensified as she watched Khron.
“Khron, halt.” Galen casts a stone wall in front of the exit, preventing Khron from leaving.
“What’s the meaning of this? What are you doing beast?” Khron yells enraged.
“The better question is, where do you think you’re going?”
