"Crash and Burn," released in 1990, is a thrilling science fiction film that artfully blends elements of cyberpunk and action to deliver a captivating narrative. Directed by Charles Band, the movie is set in a dystopian future where the line between man and machine becomes increasingly blurred. The story revolves around a renegade reporter, played by Jack Palance, who uncovers a conspiracy involving advanced robots that are designed for combat. As the plot unfolds, viewers are plunged into a world fraught with danger, where the battle against these sophisticated machines becomes a fight for survival. This gripping premise sets the stage for high-stakes confrontations and intense action sequences that keep audiences on the edge of their seats.
With its unique blend of futuristic technology and gritty storytelling, "Crash and Burn" explores themes of humanity, artificial intelligence, and corporate greed. The film’s special effects, particularly for its time, showcase a variety of imaginative robot designs and action sequences that enhance the dystopian atmosphere. Despite being a lesser-known title in the sci-fi genre, it has attracted a niche following for its intriguing narrative and dynamic visuals. Furthermore, the film’s examination of the relationship between humans and machines resonates with contemporary discussions about technology’s role in society. "Crash and Burn" ultimately stands as a captivating entry in the early '90s sci-fi landscape, appealing to fans of both action-packed cinema and thought-provoking stories about the perils of unchecked technological advancement.

Kraven the Hunter takes aim at the audience and instead shoots itself in the foot with ill-conceived action and a poisonously rote script that totally botches its razor-thin examination of toxic masculinity. Link in the comments for our full review.

BREAKING — DC Studios have officially greenlit a CLAYFACE movie, with a screenplay by horror master Mike Flanagan! Shooting is expected to begin in early 2025!

From Variety: “Flanagan, who first pitched DC Studios on a Clayface project in 2023, tweeted in 2021 that he was “really keen to do a standalone Clayface movie as a horror/thriller/tragedy.” But he is already committed to write and direct a new take on “The Exorcist” for Universal, through Blumhouse and Morgan Creek, and he’s also developing a series adaptation of Stephen King’s novel “Carrie” for Amazon MGM Studios. So DC has been on the hunt for a director to take the reins, and an announcement is imminent.”
