When writing for a child we need to write LIKE A CHILD and that takes FAITH.

FAITH IS DOING SOMETHING WITHOUT FULLY UNDERSTANDING, BUT TRUSTING IT'S GOING TO WORK OUT.

Don't worry about planning every detail of your story. Let the story flow...play and pretend and ILLUSTRATE FIRST before you write.

Children don't plan their stories...they play and pretend and let it come naturally...

This is the type of confidence that we need when we go to write our stories. There are no wrong answers.

So let's give it a try...

Here's another fun I made for you.

In the picture above I want you to tell the story of this penguin.

Pretend to be the penguin (put yourself in his/hers shoes....and for 5 minutes write as fast as you can (just write the first thing that pops into your head) starting with...

Years ago they didn't use words to tell a story...they used pictures on cave walls...

It was simple, understandable, and those little illustrations had so much feeling and life in them.

That's why I don't write my children's books first...

Instead, I look to the illustrations to help me tell the story.

Why don't you try it too?

When I create a book, the first thing I think of is who I'm writing for. I pick a kid and think about their likes, dislikes, struggles and then I start looking for copyright free pictures to illustrate the book for said kid. I don't start writing until AFTER I find my images though. Instead of saying we sick, or tired, or broke all the time let's start saying what we are grateful for...today I opened my eyes...I am able to take a deep breath...thank you God that I have another day to serve his people and do what he has created me to do.

Just unboxed a whole bunch of curriculum from Generations.

I have never used them before, but excited to dive in.

It is a LOT and totally feels like everything we need, but it's not! I have so much more curriculum...mind you...I am homeschooling 5 kids this year. 🤗
