Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of the Hillsdale Sheriff Deputy.

The Michigan State Police have confirmed that a Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Deputy was shot during a traffic stop Thursday afternoon near Beecher Road and Lamb Road. The deputy has passed away.

Law enforcement was able to locate the suspect, Eric Fiddler, in a field after an extensive search. The MSP said that Fiddler shot at police, they returned fire, killing him. The deputy’s name was not release at the Press Conference Thursday evening.
