Chickasaw Nation Productions was established in 2009 as a result of the Chickasaw Nation Governor Bill Anoatubby's vision to utilize film production to preserve the stories of the Chickasaw people. During Native American Heritage Month, we remember Montford Johnson, a Chickasaw cattleman and entrepreneur who overcame adversity to build a ranching empire along the Chisholm Trail. A pioneer in Oklahoma's agriculture and community development, he played a vital role in establishing cities and industries while dedicating his life to improving the lives of First Americans and supporting others in need.

This Native American Heritage Month, we honor Pearl Carter Scott—a pioneering aviator, dedicated wife and mother, and trailblazing Chickasaw leader. After raising her family, she became one of the Chickasaw Nation’s first community health representatives in 1972. Then Pearl served three terms for the Chickasaw legislature beginning in 1983. Pearl's legacy is a testament to her passion for family, aviation and serving her people.

George Carter, father of Pearl Carter Scott, taught his children never to say the words “I can’t.” He believed if they had a reasonable goal, they could achieve it. Pearl knew her goal and surpassed it, soaring through the skies as a young teenager.

The talented Casey Camp-Horinek, who portrayed Granny Vicey on “Montford: The Chickasaw Rancher,” is also a traditional Drumkeeper for the Ponca Pa-tha-ta, of the Ponca Nation. She can also be seen as Grandma Irene in “Reservation Dogs,” Grandmother in “The Windigo,” I-ko in “The Heart Stays” and Gran Gran in “Avatar: The Last Airbender.”
