There was a time, when this land was being settled, than an oath of marriage before God was performed by writing the names of the two on a page in the Bible, as even preachers were hard to come by, and the state was not involved.. it is the promises in both hearts, centered on God, which is the foundation of marriage, coupled with faithfulness to God, that promise, and each other.
"The Family Bible" served in this manner, as well as a study guide and textbook for children. Perhaps these values need to make a comeback.
