KACU has been serving the Big Country of West Texas with daily news, educational information and music since 1986. Daytime programming includes "Morning Edition," "Here and Now," "Fresh Air," and "All Things Considered." Weekday evenings include classical music programming starting with "E

xploring Music" followed by "Performance Today," and others. Weekends include "Wait Wait Don't Tell Me," "Radiolab,"and others. University students produce "News at Noon," a news program, and "This Week in Abilene," an events calendar. KACU also produces the classical music program "Conductor's Notes." Dr. Jazz's "All That Jazz" and "Get on the Bus" and "It's Everything West Texas with Floyd Miller" are locally produced programs heard only on KACU.

In a heartwarming surprise, Lubin reunited with her daughter, Jasmine Boyd, a senior at Abilene High School, who had been led to believe her mother’s deployment was delayed. Jasmine was overjoyed to see her mother earlier than expected.

Habitat for Humanity’s second annual homecoming gala Friday featured a theme of “Pretty in Pink,” At the gala attendees dressed for the theme bid on bake sale items. The money raised at the gala will help the organization build a home for a local family.

We held our fall fundraiser drive last week and we had a great time with our guests hosts and students! A big THANK YOU to all who donated, visited, and chatted with us on-air! This year’s fundraiser theme was Food for Thought and from what we’ve raised so far, KACU will be able to donate over 7,000 meals to the Food Bank of West Central Texas! The combination of inflation and the end of pandemic-era food assistance through SNAP have created even more need. Food Bank administrators estimate 55,000 people in our region don’t have enough to eat. During this fall fundraising campaign, KACU is partnering with the Food Bank of West-Central Texas. The concept for what's now called "cultivated" meat came to Valeti when he was working with heart attack patients at the Mayo Clinic more than 15 years ago, growing human heart cells in a lab. For over 30 years, KACU has been the NPR Member public radio station in Abilene, Texas, broadcasting from the campus of Abilene Christian University in the Don Morris Building. KACU is heard locally on 89.5FM and streamed online at http://kacu.org. KACU has been serving the Big Country of West Texas with daily news, educational information, and music since 1986. Daytime programming includes "Morning Edition," "The World," "Here and Now," "Fresh Air," and "All Things Considered." Weekday evenings include classical music programming starting with "Exploring Music by Billy McGlaughlin," followed by "Performance Today," and others. Weekends include "Car Talk," "Wait Wait Don't Tell Me," "Ask Me Another," "Weekend Edition," "Live From Here," and others. University students provide the on-air talent as well as produce "This Week in Abilene," a live community events calendar. KACU’s local music programs include Dr. Jazz's "All That Jazz" and "Nightsounds with Kyle McAlister" which are heard only on KACU. "The Appetizer" is a syndicated program produced in the Abilene area as well.
