A couple days ago I was reading a post on social media about the low voter turnout, the 20 million dollar bond that passed to improve the airport and then I read this which was connected to low voter turn out and the election " We don't have a Real Newspaper" That is a discussion for another time but it did get me to thinking about the West Texas Tribune. What is our responsibility my thoughts took back to that first edition the lead story was " Abilene Citizens Express Concerns by Joe Starkey" That was May 2005. https://2589.newstogo.us/editionviewer/default.aspx?Edition=9ecd6a6c-0fa4-467a-af6e-4948d6cef197 We have been covering City Hall, AISD and City Council more recently. We hope to expand to other organization but the fact is it takes money. If you want more Real Local News would you consider making a donation doing Abilene Gives? https://www.abilenegives.org/organizations/west-texas-tribune

I’m ready to support West Texas Tribune on May 6, 2025 during Abilene Gives 2025. Learn more about West Texas Tribune and all the other organizations participating in Abilene Gives 2025.
