Thank You.

When I launched Tehaus Creative Co. in 2016, I could have never dreamed of the opportunities I would have, the projects I would get to be a part of, and the unbelievable people I would get to meet.

It’s bittersweet closing this chapter of my life. I poured my heart and soul into Tehaus over the past 6 years, and into the work I created. But, as this season comes to a close, I’m truly excited for what lays ahead.

To everyone who was a part of this journey, to those who encouraged me every step of the way, and to those who pushed me in every aspect as a person and as a professional – thank you, thank you, thank you.

Keep creating.
Keep growing.
Keep learning.
Keep failing.
But keep going.

I remember announcing our first Photography Workshop in 2019, and feeling an uneasy sense of worry. Would anyone be interested in this? Would anyone actually sign up for it? Do I even know enough to teach people? Am I a complete fraud?

Well, fast forward to today, and we just wrapped up our FOURTH workshop, and had our largest class to date. 🤯

There are still moments I feel like a complete fraud who has no business leading and teaching people.

But in those moments, I have to tell Imposter Syndrome to go to hell, and remember that teaching isn’t about having all the answers, but about helping those who are a few steps behind you in their own journey.

So to those who have trusted me enough to join a workshop and hear me babble my way through camera settings, thank you for letting me be a part of your journey.

These dudes are top-notch performers, unmatched songwriters, and unbelievable musicians. But they’re even better human beings.

I remember sitting down with LC for our episode of the “Conversations with Interesting People” podcast, and being moved by not only his journey and where he came from, but also his determination to chase his dream against the odds.

It’s one thing to be in your teens & young 20’s, and dedicate your free time to your craft and pursuing your dreams.

But it’s a whole other thing to have a wife, a child, a career, and also a passion to record music and pursue your dream as an artist. The balancing act is nearly impossible, and too many artists either sacrifice their family for the sake of success, or put their passions on hold for “another day when things slow down,” that never comes.

But LC is an exception. Against the odds, he’s dedicated himself fully to being a committed husband, a present father, an engaging teacher and coach, and also still pursue his passion for music at a high level.

Don’t sleep on this. Go listen to “Golden Time” wherever you stream your music. 📲

20 years later, we still honor and remember the 246 passengers, 2,606 workers, 343 firefighters, 60 police officers, and 8 paramedics whose lives were cut short by violent acts of hate.

May we never forget the cost and the sacrifice of those who lost their lives on this tragic day.

On a very personal note, I find a stark contrast between the world of September 2001 and September 2021.

In September 2001, we were unified.

Which presidential nominee you voted for was completely irrelevant. Which side of the socio-political aisle you stood on was vastly insignificant. Which zip code you lived in, or which skin color you had did not determine your value.

In September 2001, we considered our peers—with all their flaws, shortcomings, differences, and mistakes—as equals simply because we were all hurting and afraid.

We cared for one another simply because we were all human.

Our world looks different 20 years later.

In September 2021, unity seems like a distant fairy tale.

Caring for, and valuing someone, comes with an infinite amount of prerequisites - Who did you vote for? What religion do you believe? What are your thoughts on abortion? What’s your opinion on the transgender and LGBTQ+ movements? What’s the biggest mistake you’ve made, and should you be cancelled for it?

Answer anything that is incongruent with someone else’s convictions, and you’re deemed a less valuable human being.

Since when did someone’s value depend on their vote at a ballot box?

Since when did someone’s humanity depend on their position on a social issue?

Since when did caring for someone depend on their religion, zip code, skin color, or their past?

You see, September 2001 and September 2021 aren’t that different after all.

We’re all still hurting from something.
We’re all still carrying fears and anxiety.
We’re all still human.

I pray that it won’t take another tragedy to unite us.

I pray that we can all break the cycle of division and disunity by cherishing the most beautiful bond we all share – our humanity.

Ask any athlete, CEO, entrepreneur, creator, celebrity, or public leader, and they’ll all tell you the same thing - greatness comes with a high price tag.

Too many people want greatness without the sacrifice.

Too many people want recognition without the criticism.

Too many graphic designers want to be noticeable, but only want to use free fonts.

Too many creators want to be professional, but don’t want to dish out the money for professional education or gear.

Money. Time. Comfort. Your reputation. Criticism.

Greatness will cost you something.

Stop half-assing your work.
Stop half-assing your life.

Pay the price.
Work towards greatness.

We live in a remarkable moment in history. 245 years after these words were written, we’ve seen the incredible progress made on these promises. Yet, we are all witnesses today that there is still work to do.

Grateful to live in a land where the critics and the patriots can all have an equal voice in pushing us forward towards the ultimate cause we celebrate and continue to strive for today – liberty and justice for all.

Happy 4th of July. 🇺🇸
