We’ve got a very specific (and very important) ask for our community! ✈️🐾

We are always in need of medium and large airline kennels for our rescue transports. These kennels are what safely carry dogs on their freedom rides to new lives—but once they go, they usually don’t come back. And honestly? We love that for the dogs… but it means our kennel stash disappears fast.

If you’ve got an airline kennel collecting dust in your garage, or you’re looking for a super impactful way to donate, this is it. These kennels directly help homeless pets leave Abilene and head toward their forever homes.

Think of it as donating a first-class ticket to freedom. 🛫🐶

Grab a hot chocolate and enjoy the view because Zoo Lights starts TONIGHT! ✨ While Christmas may be over, Zoo Lights is just beginning. There is still time to tour the zoo with all its lights and start the new year with an array of wintery colors.

From December 26th-Janurary 4th (Closed on Jan. 1st) Gates will be open until 8 p.m. and the Zoo will close at 9 p.m.

❄️✨ Winter Lightfest Holiday Closure! ✨❄️

Winter Lightfest will be closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day so our team and volunteers can enjoy the holiday with their families.

We will reopen for our final two nights of the season on
🎟 December 26th and December 27th!

❄️ WEATHER CLOSURE NOTICE ❄️

Due to the weather, we will be closing Winter Lightfest tonight to keep our staff and volunteers from enduring the bitter cold.

We will be reaching out to reschedule Golf Cart and Pre-Party tickets.
All general admission tickets may be used on our remaining open nights:
📅 Friday, December 19th to Tuesday, December 23rd and Friday, December 26th –Saturday, December 27th

Due to inclement weather, Abilene Zoo will close at 3:00 p.m. today— Sunday December 14th, and Christmas Celebration will not take place this evening.

Our animals will be cozy, warm, and well cared for as the weather moves through. Guests who purchased tickets for tonight’s Christmas Celebration may reschedule for another date.
